Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and follow/lead acoustic and shock analysis of CW-EMD equipment
  • Design and analysis of low noise electro-mechanical equipment with high shock capability
  • Application of FEA, BEM and SEA modeling to electro-mechanical equipment
  • Diagnose and trouble-shoot equipment malfunctions
  • Perform complex data analysis
    • Perform analysis projects to achieve technical, cost, quality, and risk reduction goals
    • Develop and demonstrate fundamental project planning skills and understanding of cost and schedule implications
    • Serve as a lead engineer for new projects of limited scope or that are a derivative of existing projects
    • Prepare cost estimates, scopes of work and engineering schedules of high fidelity for the individual job function
    • Understand customer perspectives and inputs and take appropriate responsive actions
    • Perform field service and provide technical interface with customers as appropriate
    • Prepare and deliver quality and professional technical presentations ranging from effective project team meeting presentations to formal design review or customer presentations
    • Independently compose quality documentation and written communications including Engineering Memorandums (EM's), engineering calculations of record, technical letters, and customer deliverables
    • Contribute toward patents, technical papers, or articles
    • Support and participate in design review activities
    • Mentor other engineers in area of expertise and assist with training and evaluation of less senior personnel
    • Perform work in accordance with procedures and instructions (IDP's, EP's, etc.), CW policies, and safety, environmental, and security rules and guidelines 

Education/Experience:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited institution. MS or PhD degree a plus
  • Prior work experience of 8 or more years in the acoustic and shock analysis/testing field
  • Must be capable of getting DOD secret level clearance
  • Effective composition, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Some prior industrial experience in acoustic and shock analysis to department of defense Mil-Standards is desired 

Programs/Software Experience:

  • MS Office
  • MATLAB or similar tool experience
  • Structural dynamics analysis experience using Finite Elements Analysis (FEA), Boundary Element Modeling (BEM) and Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA)
