Examine claims data, investigate facts of loss, determine coverage and liability, and adjust claims.
*** Conduct research and periodic review of ongoing activities and results of work to resolve coverage and damage issues.
*** Receive claim assignments, investigate, and verify coverage & documents.
*** Establish investigative plan; initiate investigation with all involved parties; complete appropriate reports; take recorded statements; and review loss reserves; and adjust or open hidden exposures.
*** Review regulatory compliance and fair claims practices to identify settlement alternatives.
***Work with attorneys to resolve lawsuits: conduct negotiations & settlements; track & document quality of service provided by defense counsel; and manage litigation & recovery costs.
*** Discuss settlement; extend offer to appropriate party; and document payment & settlement information and all file activity outlining basis for settlement.
*** Determine subrogation or fraud potential and refer to Special Investigation Unit when potential exists.
*** Participate in investigations of medical providers to resolve Personal Injury Protection claims.
*** Serve as subject matter expert for repair and replacement of property damages including mechanical components of vehicle, homeowner damage, and other potential exposures.
