Supports and strengthens PPD's global marketing strategies by capturing and communicating our organization's unique value proposition to internal and external audiences. Researches, plans and implements marketing programs that convey meaningful and persuasive marketing messages to target markets; creates compelling content in collaboration with key stakeholders; and assists in developing and executing strategies and tactics that distinguish PPD from the competition and empowers the commercial team to adopt, own and sell the PPD story with conviction. Serves as liaison between the organization and its customers, partners, trade associations, outside vendors and media audiences.

  • Develops and implements a range of traditional, digital and live marketing communications initiatives, such as advertising, email and social media campaigns, webinars and industry conferences.
  • Creates engaging content that clearly and consistently communicates key messages across all marketing channels, including website, e-blasts, onsite exhibitions, key message documents, sales collateral and other materials.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to tell our story in ways that bring clarity and focus to complex service offerings and coordinates these opportunities with internal stakeholders to ensure a unified approach.
  • Serves as a marketing contact for strategic partner projects, working in tandem with the business development team to grow business opportunities with select clients.
  • Builds collaborative partnerships with sales, scientific and operational teams to plan and execute marketing/selling strategies that anticipate and overcome challenges to selling, and which fill the gaps within existing marketing approaches.
  • Collaborates with team members to build a positive and productive work environment that facilitates high-quality output.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing communications, journalism, public relations, business or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the job
  • Demonstrated social media campaign experience
  • Skilled in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and proficient with the Internet

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic marketing plans that integrate the following elements of the marketing mix: creative content, promotional tactics, sales collateral, direct mail, web-based marketing, trade shows, advertising and market research analysis
  • Solid understanding of how web-based marketing and public relations coordinate with integrated marketing programs for service promotions and corporate brand alignment
  • Thorough understanding of integrated marketing communications for services
  • Demonstrated initiative and strategic thinking
  • Strong analytical skills, including budget management
  • Effectively prioritizes and manages multiple projects under pressure
  • Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills
  • Proven ability to manage outside agencies in order to fulfill project objectives
  • Skilled in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and proficient with the Internet

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Frequent mobility required.
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
