Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Define formulate and implement marketing strategy for a specific category with a heavy focus on local / regional implementation (e.g. a translation of the global strategies into Canadian specific plans).

You are responsible for

  • Make recommendations to senior management on product portfolio selection
  • Pricing strategy and price setting in collaboration with the global business unit 
  • Mapping trade requirements and address trade needs in marketing strategy. 
  • Develop, define and deploy marketing strategy in close cooperation with the Canadian sales and marketing team and the global business unit
  • Analyze the business environment (market, consumer, and competition) as input for product portfolio planning, develop informed and competitively positioned strategy 
  • Monitor sales, margins and initiate corrective actions in close cooperation with national account managers
  • Initiate corrective actions on logistic matters, like shortages, stock levels, obsolete and slow moving items
  • Develops content for marketing concepts.  Partner with Sales & TradeMarketing to develop and present plans to trade partners (i.e. trade presentations)
  • Lead the local implementation of the brand strategy
  • P&L accountability

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degreerequired, preferably in marketing discipline (BBA, BComm), MBA strongly preferred
  • Strong Background in marketing of consumer products or durables (5+ years in progressively responsible marketing management positions) with particular strength in new product introduction / product launches
  • Strong evidence of analytical, strategic thinking applied within a marketing environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams, maintaining sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support or defend a position or idea in a clear, concise and persuasive manner.  Proven stand up presentation skills
  • Experience working with large retail customers and account teams
  • Experience working effectively with advertising agencies
  • Experience with the generation of analysis of marketplace data
  • Deep understanding and appreciation of the Canadian Retail Industry and its shifting trends and practices
  • Ability to balance numerous projects and issues and prioritize effectively
  • Strong computer literacy: on standard industry programs; i.e. Microsoft office (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
