The Email Marketing and Automation Specialist is responsible for the end to end creation and execution of existing and new email marketing communications, and related automated marketing campaigns on behalf of Advance Local and affiliate markets. This person will execute lead generation, win/back, and nurture programs that drive engagement and growth, create awareness and qualified leads.

The candidate will help define and execute newsletter strategy and manage related fulfillment workflows / processes. This person should maintain a working knowledge of, as well as best practices in email marketing and campaign management.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field
  • 3+ years' hands-on experience with email service providers and marketing automation technology, building and deploying email journeys, automations and campaigns
  • Proficient in basic and advanced email marketing and automation principles and best practices, the regulatory environment such as sender score and reputation, deliverability, and CAN-SPAM
  • Experience with Google Analytics, CRM (Salesforce), campaign and lead management (lead scoring a plus)
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to manage multiple deadline-oriented projects concurrently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work between teams and function with high autonomy
  • Experience with other (non-email) digital acquisition channels
  • Solid understanding of building and configuring data, list management and segmentation
  • Experience with HTML and CSS; ability to troubleshoot coding problems
  • Solid understanding of demand generation, nurture, and retention marketing industry best practices
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook)
  • Experience evaluating, creating, and presenting campaign reports
  • Solid analytical ability to derive meaning from data through A/B testing
  • Ability to adapt to the evolving business needs and objectives

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, execute, and support day-to-day email marketing and automation activities including, but not limited to, campaign set-up, scheduling, testing (A/B), tagging and deployment of one-time, recurring, triggered and dynamic content-driven transactional and promotional customer journeys / workflows, and multi-channel campaigns;

  1. Work with stakeholders to obtain copy, images, calls to action, click-thru URLs, and other components which make up the email message;

  1. Proactively communicate with stakeholders to get campaign and asset sign off on deadlines, production progress, and delivery;

  1. Manage and segment email lists based on available demographic and behavioral criteria from multiple sources;

  1. Lead and support pre/post-campaign strategy analysis discussions of email marketing efforts;

  1. Track and report on email campaign performance, as well as propose recommendations on best practices to increase engagement and conversion rates;

  1. Work to minimize list decay and unsubscribes while increasing email send productivity;

  1. Develop and help maintain the integration between our marketing automation platform and Salesforce;

  1. Plan, collaborate and maintain Advance and affiliate market email communication calendars to ensure timely delivery of campaigns; prioritizing incoming requests;

  1. Traffic Advance Local and affiliate market support tickets and other requests to vendor account team;

  1. Provide strategic consultation on email marketing and automation best practices, company policies and industry standards;

  1. Maintain and document technical processes and marketing automation procedures; provide seamless hand-off and training to business users to utilize;

  1. Monitor deliverability and overall account reputation to ensure email inbox delivery; troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise;

  1. Quality assure and proof marketing campaigns to ensure compliance with briefs, internal processes / guidelines, proper tracking and best practices, including CAN-SPAM;

  1. Monitor, analyze and troubleshoot ESP and marketing automation platform- related issues;

  1. Assist with email / marketing automation vendor platform and account team management, infrastructure configuration, status meetings / QBRs;

  1. Schedule and communicate ESP and marketing automation platform updates;

  1. Newsletters -- Develop and support newsletter fulfillment and submission processes including testing, scheduling, and asset production:
  • Manage successful delivery of newsletters; monitoring and tracking deliverability, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise;
  • Support strategic newsletter discussions and testing of new opportunities;

Develop and maintain newsletter performance reports and data, distribute results, trends and conclusions; apply key learnings to optimize engagement and influence strategy.
