Wharton-Smith, Inc., a Top 400 ENR Contractor and the largest Central Florida-based General Contractor, is looking for a Marketing Coordinator/Technical Writer for our Water/Wastewater Division to work out of the firm's corporate office, located just north of Orlando in Sanford, FL. The individual will work closely with the marketing and business development staff, as well as other office and field personnel to produce detailed, qualification-based proposals and develop written content.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, where deadlines are critical and constant. They will also have a writing background and publishing/layout design experience.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Writing and editing marketing content and proposal narratives required. (provide three diverse and original writing samples)
  • Deadline driven production of RFPs/RFQs/SOQs and Qualification packages, including the development/production of all layouts, content, graphics, etc.; and manage proposal development process from start to delivery. (provide two examples of past proposals/publication work)
  • Work with various company departments and offices to prepare competitive, qualification-based proposals and prequalification packages for clients
  • Prepare graphically-driven messaging and edit content for consistency and clarity
  • Create, prepare and assemble marketing brochures, as needed
  • Coordinate and prepare content and graphics for award submittals, as needed
  • Organize and participate in industry-related expos, tradeshows and various events
  • Assist with project photographydatabase
  • Ability to work outside of typical business hours for deadlines or events when needed


  • Bachelordegree in Marketing, Advertising/Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Previous work experience in the A/E/C industry is preferred
  • A minimum of eightyears of experience in related Marketing Coordinator position is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel) and Cosential CRM
  • Strong writing, editing and proof reading skills
  • Ability to balance workload, prioritize and word under tight deadlines with a positive attitude
  • Organized, detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
  • Excellent communications skills
