Primary Responsibilities:

  • Continually build and nurture our agent distributionchannel, both captive and non-captive

  • Recruit, onboard, train and develop select candidates to ensure a continual pipeline and sufficient base of producing agents to meet assigned sales and retention targets

  • Facilitate a structured on-boarding process, including certification and training curriculums, leveraging corporate processes, tools and systems

  • Engage agents in hands-on training to ensure an accurate understanding of our products, compliance/policy requirements, sales processes, brand and value proposition messages and sales systems

  • Create and deliver sales initiatives and trainings to the agent distribution

  • Lead and develop agents in self-generated business activities to generate leads and reduce dependence on company-generated leads.

  • Be the conduit for agents to ensure they are appropriately set up and supported across their lifecycle. This includes, contracting, licensing/appointment, certification, training, enrollment administration, commission payment, agent servicing, etc.

  • Coach, develop and manage performance

  • Lead business planning with agents for each sales period (i.e., open enrollment and the Medicare lock-in period)

  • Become proficient in the various sales reporting tools to use available data to coach for optimal performance

  • Oversee company-generated activities of agents to ensure leading indicators of success and corresponding sales results

  • Monitor sales results, trends and key performance indicators (KPI's) while influencing agents to achieve their business goals as well as UnitedHealthcare’s

  • Conduct field ride-alongs with new agents to observe sales techniques and ensure alignment with company expectations and compliance with CMS regulations

  • Conduct regular team meetings to review sales results and provide timely information and coaching to drive enrollment and retention

  • Achieve assigned sales and retention targets for the market

  • Identify and develop relationships with individuals and organizations that influence the buying behavior of our target consumer (e.g.; Providers, Business Professionals, Regulators, Faith Based Organizations, Associations and others)

  • Develop two new 3rd party referral relationships each month

  • Facilitate engagement of agents in executing individual or agency business plans as an indicator of productivity

  • Build and advance our brand and value proposition across the product portfolio

  • Ensure adherence to sales and marketing guidelines associated with Medicare regulations, partner expectations (e.g.; AARP) and company policies and procedures

  • Strong written and verbal skills

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Health and Life insurance license in the state of California
  • 5+ years of insurance sales experience
  • 5+ years of sales management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook and other technical applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher level of education

  • Medicare experience

  • Knowledge of Lead Management software

  • Bilingual in Spanish
