Field management position covering the area of:

Ottawa Market - Ottawa / Northern Ontario / Atlantic Canada (NB/NL/NS/PE)

This position will oversee a team of field managers, work from a home office and visit retaillocations to work alongside merchandising and management staff. The Market Manager is responsible for successful management of all market programs to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and integrity of every News America Marketing In-Store initiative in their market.

Retailers Include:
LCL / SDM / Rexall / IDA / CT / Metro / Food Basics / JC / Familiprix

511 Food Stores, 499 Drug Stores, and 136 Mass Stores

Responsibilities:

Program Management:

  • Analyze market needs
  • Communicate efficiently with direct reports, supervisor and internal/external colleagues
  • Fully train and hold direct reports accountable
  • Recognition and communication of market trends with recommendations for action
  • Data integrity
  • Flawless execution of all aspects of the program
  • Proactive anticipation of problems and situations and appropriate resolutions of same
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by management

People Management and Development:

Ensures market is fully staffed and operational. Includes:

  • Recruiting
  • Selection
  • Training
  • Succession planning
  • Development
  • Motivation
  • Separation
  • Performance management of direct reports

Client Management:

  • Develop and maintain cooperative relations with market retailers and local client sales force to drive programs on the local level
  • Partner with local account directors on retail account calls and business reviews to provide valuable local insights and information to clients on execution of programs
  • Identify and report competitive activity to business managers
  • Identify local opportunities for program development and execution

Fiscal Management:

Qualifications: Experience Needed:

  • Interfacing with clients and customers
  • 3-5 years of people management in a service industry
  • Working with a variable workforce made of exempt, nonexempt and hourly personnel, working at multiple off-site locations, preferred

Non-Skill Requirements:

  • Market Managers must have a valid driver’s license (for at least 2 years)
  • Ability to drive during the day and night is required
  • College degree or equivalent
