The Director of Human Resources plans, directs, and monitors the activities of assigned departments to ensure the promotion of Mountain States Health Alliances Mission, Vision, and Values. With the facility executive management team, the Director participates in formulating long term strategic and business plans to ensure the facilities continuing viability and support of key human resources needs.
A. The Human Resources Director administers facility wide programs related to team member relation issues and other various system HR projects.
B. The position plans, organizes, directs, and monitors the activities of the assigned department(s).
C. The position is responsible for maintaining industry specific knowledge to better improve the operations of their department.
D. The incumbent will possess the following attributes to be successful as the HR leader of their facility. Those attributes are interview and assessment skills, presentation skills, technologically literate, coaching and mentoring, change management, project management, basic business acumen, data analysis and internet/social networking skills.
E. The position ensures personnel policies and procedures are administered and communicated in a manner that promotes consistent and equitable treatment of team members, recognition and support of human values in the workplace and harmonious working relationships between all team members for assigned facilities.
F. The position monitors human resources programs in terms of meeting objectives and cost effectiveness and prepares periodic reports for management as necessary or as requested on the current status of human resources activity for assigned facilities.
G. The position is responsible for assisting facility leadership in the on boarding process of new leadership as well as front line staff.
H. The position is responsible for supporting and promoting their facilities health and wellness activities.
I. The position is responsible for managing the process of formulating action plans at the facility and department level that address team member engagement.
J. The position ensures the effective communication of all approved Human Resources programs though appropriate management channels and monitors, as required, their implementation, administration, and results for assigned facilities.
K. The position is responsible for evaluating and recommending compensation changes ensuring ability to attract retain and motivate team members while maintaining a competitive position in the marketplace and the appropriate return on investment for their appropriate facility.
L. The position administers team member relations' policies and procedures and utilizes conflict resolution skills, de-escalation techniques, and verbal crisis intervention for assigned facilities.
M. The position consults with and advises Directors, Managers, and Supervisors regarding team member counseling and disciplinary activities for assigned facilities.
N. The position maintains compliance with governmental agencies and regulations, equal opportunity legislation, and appropriate state Employment Law for assigned facilities.
O. The position prepares the annual operating budget for their facility for assigned facilities.
P. The position attends unemployment hearings for assigned facilities.
Q. The positions assists in the creation and implementation of management development and training programs and participates in meetings, committees, and continuing education to improve individual, departmental, and organizational performance for assigned facilities.
R. The position supports facility and MSHA goals, mission, vision, values, expectations, financial plans, and policies and procedures.
S. The position develops departmental plans and objectives in support of MSHA strategic plan and promotes teamwork, facilitates teams, and participates in PI for assigned facilities.

It is vital that an individual in this position be capable of good communication skills. It is of the utmost importance that written communication is legible.
MSHA expects all team members to support the VOS initiative by demonstrating awareness of the VOS system and effectively applying it to his/her work.
Job duties of this position may require access to protected patient information (PHI). The team member will be accountable for appropriate use of the record and compliance with all confidentiality and security policy and procedures related to use, access, and disclosure of PHI.
Direct reporting relationship to the Vice President of Human Resources with a dotted line reporting relationship to facility CEO.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business, Psychology, or related field. Five years' Human Resource Management experience with two years experience at senior level preferred. Requires practical and theoretical knowledge of human resources principles and government regulations. Must possess critical thinking, problem solving, priority setting, and good communication skills.
SPHR, PHR and CHHR Certifications are preferred for this position.
