The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for providing all aspects of technical leadership in the operation and improvement of manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment efficiencies, and product quality within the Fort Smith facility.

This engineer is the key process control person for the facility. He/she monitors daily performance of the process and product quality and takes appropriate actions to maintain both at optimal and specified performance targets. He/she also works closely with Product and Process Engineers to introduce new products and processes to the plant. They also are the first line of contact with our customers during product issues that may arise. They work closely with the primary team to ensure that all resources are available to allow them to perform their job well plus serve as the management representative for the plant's three ISO systems. He/she also provides leadership for the QM pillar activities.

  • Utilize technical knowledge to provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors

Process Leadership

  • Ensure all customer Fitness for Uses are met
  • Implement new processes or modifications to existing processes
  • Work closely with S&T as appropriate
  • Work with vendors as needed to meet plant goals

Technical Excellence and Process Optimization

  • Understand current manufacturing process capability and drive to reduce variation
  • Ensure product quality and consistency to improve the overall customer experience
  • Provide a stewardship role in ensuring Mat Manufacturing maintains process standards and leverages knowledge for rapid deployment of best practices across plants
  • Participate in the scope development and execution of all major projects, including rebuilds, to ensure safety, performance, schedule and cost goals of the projects are met or exceeded
  • Share accountability for successful delivery of all aspects of the plant operating plan with other plant leadership team members
  • Understand and assist the plant in introducing new and improved glass compositions
  • Translate customer FFUs to ensure Fort Smith Plant meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Lead cost and quality improvement projects
  • Act as the catalyst in sharing best practices and process improvements across mat plants.
  • Act as a link between Fort Smith and S&T and glass plants
  • Provide leadership for all plant Quality Maintenance (QM) activities and maintain an active QM pillar team to provide QM support to all other TPM pillars

Lead Cross-Functional Teams

  • Drive alignment between plant departments
  • Share best practices, challenge thinking and provide candid and respectful feedback; set an example for the organization of how teamwork and partnerships should work

Knowing Our Customer

  • Understand and communicate customer expectations through effective use of standard work, reporting and teams communications
  • Assure standard processes are defined and in place reliably providing a product that meets customer performance and delivery expectations
  • Facilitate a culture that maintains, improves and/or develops effective customer relationships



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years progressive technical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Safety and Environmental awareness
  • Customer focus
  • SPC, Six Sigma, TPM and TQM experience
