We seek a Manufacturing Plant Director to lead Operations at one of our most critical production sites: Shreveport, Louisiana. This leader will have four direct reports and five indirect reports who, together, bring cohesion and cooperation across a team of over 200 diverse employees. 

This person will develop strategic plans and budgets for all back-end operations at this North American Generics site; evaluate existing capacities and take capacity expansion decisions; provide inputs for product allocation decisions; ensure smooth implementation of product transfers and new product launch operations; introduce changes to manufacturing systems and processes; review performance of different teams and provide direction and support on different processes.

Among the specific responsibilities of the Plant Director:

1. Capacity and Product Portfolio Planning
    -Provide inputs on product allocation decisions, based on cost-effectiveness and capacity
2. Manufacturing Efficiency & Achievement
   -Evaluate Manufacturing performance, including the introduction of new systems when ideal
3. Sourcing
    -Review and make changes to planning schedules for implementation of Viable Vision and pull-based scheduling; provide inputs to team on opportunities for alternate vendor development; conduct periodic reviews to monitor performance
4. New Product Development Support and Product Transfer Support
    -Coordinate with Tech Support, Scale-up and Technology Transfer teams for transfer of technology and troubleshooting support for new products and product transfers; monitor execution of exhibit/pre-validation/validation batches
5. Project Management Support 
    -Approve project initiation requests based on cost-benefit analysis; review and approve scope and timelines of all projects; conduct high-level reviews; provide guidance and support on escalations when required
IN ORDER TO ensure capacities are sufficient to meet current and future requirements
6. Audits & Compliance
    -Take the lead on site audit preparation and execution. Partner with Quality, Safety, the DEA Manager, and other key stakeholders on inspection readiness and response
7. Management Reviews
    -Participate in North American Generics management review meetings. Lead site meetings with Shreveport-based leadership team
8. Operational Reviews and Support
    -Conduct periodic reviews to monitor performance; discuss issues and escalations; provide guidance and support when required; participate in critical discussions with internal and external customers; introduce changes to structure, systems and processes where required to enhance execution speed
9. Team Management 
   
-Conduct goal setting, performance appraisals and mentoring/coaching for own team members; collaborate with HR in manpower planning, recruitment activities and identifying training needs of team members

The ideal candidate for the Manufacturing Plant Director will have the following qualifications:

  • A degree in Life Sciences or Engineering, with an advanced degree preferred
  • A strong leader who can manage and develop a team with diverse knowledge and experiences. Be able to articulate a common vision and gain committment towards it
  • 15 years of experience in a regulated environment, pharmaceuticals preferred
  • A business understanding of manufacturing and packaging, regulatory requirements, and the market dynamics of regulated markets
  • Knowledge of production technologies and systems
  • A firm understanding Regulatory and GMP Requirements
