Supports advancement of Underwriting’s operations management by leading efforts to gather and analyze various forms of data for reporting, process improvement and to use in making general operational recommendations.

Works with leaders throughout Underwriting to represent Underwriting’s data analytics needs in terms of tools, metrics, attributes and architecture

Manages Underwriting analysts in working with technology, process improvement, automation, vendors, user acceptance testing, reporting, portfolio underwriting, consumer reports, premium leakage and new data sources.

Manages development and coaching of analysts and their competencies to ensure they provide actionable data and insights cross functionally. Works with Underwriting leaders to prioritize analytics projects and set timelines.

Ensures analytics project work streams have project plans, deliverables, and milestones that meet the defined requirements, including delivery dates.

Coordinates and executes more complex Underwriting studies; directs Underwriting employees in gathering data using Guidewire Mirror Database, ODS database, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and other data resources.

Works with Underwriting leaders to represent Underwriting’s BI needs and to form and execute broader data strategy.

Leads Underwriting’s data governance efforts, collaborating with functional analytics and BI teams to ensure requirements are interpreted and implemented correctly.

Drives efforts to ensure Underwriting has clean, reliable and accurate data.

Works with senior Underwriting leadership to increase operational excellence by promoting a data driven culture.

Provides consultation and recommendations to Underwriting to influence organizational behavior and results.

Disseminates learnings across the organization.

BA/BS in Business Administration, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or other technical areas is required
MA/MS/MBA or advanced training in Six Sigma, Lean Management, or business process management is required

SAS & SQL training, R preferred

Coursework in statistics or business analytics

Minimum 5 years working in a data and/or analytic related function in the Underwriting, Product or Marketing function in property and casualty insurance industry
