DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

International Retirement Programs

  • Maintains knowledge of the Company's retirement/pension plans and the processes necessary to administer the plans
  • Responsible for the processes related to the daily administration of the Defined Benefit Plans including: benefit calculations/elections, distributions, data management/reporting
  • Responsible for the processes related to the Canadian RRSP and TFSA plan daily administration including, but not limited to: contribution/loan/deferral file exchanges, loan/withdrawal processing, data management / reporting
  • Responsible for the union and non-union annual retirement contribution calculation and contribution process
  • Prepares analytical reports of retirement/pension costs
  • Responsible for the compliance processes related to retirement/pension plans including, but not limited to: coordinates annual audits of the retirement/pension plans, prepares data and reporting for annual valuations, insurance filing/premium payment processing, review/distribution of required notices and plan documentation
  • Management of pension committee meetings
  • Prepares funding requirements and, working with external investment advisors, determines liquidation requirements to meet pension payment obligations
  • Supports finance to review actuarial reports, discuss actuarial assumptions, and review ongoing funding obligations
  • Reviews invoices for payment of all administrative expenses related to the retirement/pension plans and logs invoices for tracking purposes
  • Works with vendors, actuaries and consultants regarding the daily administration processes
  • Facilitates problem resolution between the service providers and/ or claimants.

International Health and Welfare Programs

  • Maintains detailed knowledge of the Company's international health and welfare benefit plans and the processes necessary to administer the plans, and develops deep subject matter expertise for the benefit plans for which he/she is responsible
  • Responsible, in conjunction with vendors, carriers and consultants, for the daily administration of the various union and non-union international health and welfare benefit programs which may include, but are not limited to: Medical, Dental and Vision plans Retiree Medical plans Employee Assistance Programs Employee Recognition / Service Awards
  • Serves as a contact for claims questions/resolution
  • Prepares and/or analyzes cost and utilization reports
  • Responsible for the review and audit of enrollment and eligibility data
  • Works directly with providers to develop and/or update communication materials.
  • Facilitates problem resolution between the service providers and/ or claimants.

Other Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the drafting and preparation of certain compliance materials as required, including, but not limited to: Form 5500 filings, Summary Annual Reports, Summary Plan Descriptions and Master Plan Documents
  • Responsible for the day to day management of the Company's international relocation program
  • In conjunction with external legal counsel, responsible for immigration work for sponsored employees, including U.S. permanent resident applications
  • Responsible for the international assignment process and policies
  • Maintains knowledge of international employment contract terms and conditions; supports local legal reviews for changes to employment conditions
  • Provides training and assistance to field personnel
  • Develops and/or maintains administrative procedures for the duties of this position

  • Supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities, as well as active participation on project teams
  • Manages one or more direct report employees, with responsibility to mentor and develop those professionals
  • Performs any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree with 10 or more years of professional experience and a general knowledge of employee benefit principles, practices and procedures
  • CEBS designation, CFA, CFP, CPA or actuarial certification preferred
  • Specific knowledge of the types of retirement/pension plans offered by the Company, including defined benefit plans, RRSP and TFSA accounts in Canada, and defined benefit pension plans in Germany; knowledge of other international health and welfare plans is preferred
  • Specific benefit experience in China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and/or Vietnam is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with non-qualified supplemental executive retirement plans and other non-qualified plans is a plus
  • Experience working with global employment companies, international assignments, and international benefit programs is preferred
  • Ability to research/resolve problems or issues in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently to resolve issues or problems on a day-to-day basis
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in a corporate environment
  • Proficiency with Windows based software (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint) is required
  • Experience using Workday, including with benefits enrollment and file integrations, preferred
  • English fluency required; French, German or Vietnamese proficiency is a plus
