This position in a fast paced environment is responsible for managing selected Personal Insurance (PI) vendor initiatives.
The role includes interaction with multiple business partners internally across the Personal Insurance organization, as well as multiple external vendors.
The individual will also work with division counterparts across the Travelers enterprise in Business Insurance, Bond, Claim, Corporate, and Legal.
Individual contributor position reports to the Personal Insurance Vendor Management Team lead. The position is located in Hartford, CT.
Work with enterprise business partners to keep abreast of vendor activity, and to inform on Personal Insurance vendor solutions.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Establish and maintain collaborative and positive working relationships with business customers, procurement/legal teams, enterprise partners and our external vendors.
Partnering with the corporate Procurement organization, participate in the initiation of new vendor efforts, assist in: providing vendor solutions to complex business problems, new and renewal contracting, and work with theteam on vendor due diligence to meet enterprise standards.
Owns business relationship for a selected group of vendors.
Leads, drives, participates, and is an integral part of the discussions with vendors (in partnership withProcurement) on selected new product offerings and existing product enhancements.
Leads, drives and participates in discussions with internal business partners on the business value of selected vendor solutions and third party data sources.
Manage details of vendor Request for Proposal, Request for Information, Pilots, and Proof of Concepts on various topics
- Demonstrates understanding of Personal Insurance business, which may include products, pricing/filing processes, claim, underwriting, risk management, compliance, distribution channels, business and sales centers, and/or systems and technology.

Responsible for selected vendor controls and due diligence.
Supports all Personal Insurance vendor audits.
Responsible for ensuring completion of new and existing vendor security assessments
Minimum 5 years of strategic sourcing, negotiation, finance or supplier management experience required. Strong interpersonal skills, writing skills and customer service orientation required. Project planning, negotiating, organizing, documenting and problem solving skills required. Requires ability to take quick, decisive action in unique and complex situations to meet corporate business objectives and business requirements. Knowledge ofbusiness and legal implications of proposed procurement solutions required. Must have ability to perform equally well in a team environment or individually.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related field.
Personal Insurance industry experience desired.
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred. Proficiency withSharepoint, Access, and Visio preferred.
