Position Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Manager’s primary responsibility is to achieve year-on-year improvement in total cost, quality, and service by leading regional and global sourcing activities and managing supplier relationships for a portfolio of commodities across the Real Estate, Facilities, and MRO space. Leadership of cross-functional strategic sourcing teams (made up of Real Estate Managers, Commodity Managers, Facility Managers, Plant Managers, Operations Managers, Quality Managers and Legal support), accountable for execution and implementation of the sourcing strategies within the Operations corporate functions. Depending on commodity complexity, this position will be responsible for annual spend up to $250 million.
Achieve year-on-year process improvements within procurement and continually streamline purchasing activities across Rockwell for medium to low dollar transactions across the indirect commodities/services in our plants and sales offices.  This position will require close working relationships with functional leaders specifically in the Facilities Management space (VP of Business Units and Regions, VP of Operations, Plant Managers, Project Leaders), and Shared Services (accounts payable).  

Key responsibilities include:
1) Communicating strategy and  Real Estate business cases to Senior Leadership of Business Units
2)Support the recruitment, motivation, development, and organization of a professional purchasing staff (this position will have five direct reports) to enable successful performance of department functions
3) Managing implementation of procurement strategies
4) Create strategies to efficiently manage department workload, ensuring priorities are aligned with the demands on the department
5) Measuring/tracking internal performance within each spend category/commodity
6) Coordinate the development and monitoring of key performance metrics for critical department activities, ensuring alignment with OES and plant level performance requirements
7) Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process, striving to optimize value extraction from the ERP (SAP) and Indirect Punch Out systems through elimination of variation and waste, focusing on continuous process improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years in the Real Estate and Facilities Management, functional procurement/strategic sourcing and/or supply chain, exposure to procurement is desirable.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.


  • Management of direct reports and/or cross functional teams
  • Expertise in transactional procurement and supply chain processes and tools (SAP, Ariba, Microsoft suite of services including Sharepoint)
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Real Estate license, Commercial preferred.
  • Strong project management and quantitative skills
