Manager, Software Engineering

CHIP-ML (Insights Platform for Machine Learning) is an innovation investment seeking to pair in new types of strategic data with a set of capabilities to unleash the power of our data via machine learning.  We have an ambitious agenda to explore new horizons of possibility with powerful insights to make our customers more awesome.  We are currently investing heavily in Natural Language Processing (including Voice to Text and Voice Biometrics) and developing our own, cutting-edge tools to explore and develop machine learning algorithms.


As a part of this team, you will have the opportunity to learn, research, and build software products from the ground up, and be a partner in deciding tech strategy. You will also support existing software products that are already generating business value.



Responsibilities & Expectations: 


Lead and develop software products that help us build and run machine learning applications.


Directly and independently work with business partners and other tech teams. Independently make decisions for the organization and the program.


Lead other engineers to develop high-quality products.


Design and implement application frameworks, APIs, libraries and services that perform at scale using existing and emerging technology platforms.


Design and develop automation workflows, conduct reviews to make sure the team’s software is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for platform performance, and assess the overall quality of delivered components. 


Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, which are necessary due to the dynamic nature of collaboration with customers, vendors, and other engineering teams.

Loves learning new technologies and mentoring more junior engineers 




Basic Qualifications: 


Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience


At least 10 years of experience in one of the following development languages: Java, Python, Golang, or JavaScript


At least 5 years of experience with Linux 


At least 3 years of experience developing applications using Agile principles 


At least 2 years of experience in developing software products for cloud infrastructure


At least 2 years of experience using one of the following big data or streaming platforms: Kafka, Spark, MongoDB, or Cassandra

 At least 2 years of experience in CI/CD practices

At least 2 years of experience in DevOps practices


Preferred Qualifications: 


Master’s Degree in STEM 


12+ years of combined development experience in Java/Python/Golang/JavaScript


2+ years of experience with containers (e.g.: Docker)


1+ years of experience with serverless application development
