JOB SUMMARY:      The Manager, Software Engineer - LIMS is responsible for managing the activities and outcomes of the development, deployment, and internal support of LIMS and ELN installations. Responsible for directing day to day operations and activities. This position will be critical in developing software solutions and tools for data capture, visualization, and automation of analytics. This is a foundational opportunity that will require cross organizational team building and a can-do attitude.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Leads requirement gathering, planning, and execution of software solution selection and implementation
  • Continual development and deployment of new LIMS & ELN workflows into selected solutions
  • Manage the day to day operations of software engineer team
  • Assures all facets are compliant to all required regulatory agencies
  • Heads software technology assessment, procurement, and installation
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and provides guidance and expertise
  • Develops validation procedures for software solutions
  • Writes and reviews documentation and standard operating procedure for all software solutions
  • Develop supplemental software tools to support LIMS and ELN
  • Develop and or utilization of API and middleware
  • Assists in maintenance and sustaining of software products
  • May develop scientific algorithm software
  • Optimize database tables and queries
  • Provides support for internal end users when troubleshooting software
  • Develops training program for development of programming skills internally
  • Works with Automation Engineers to integrate software solution data capture when applicable to LIMS and ELN

  EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: 

  • BS or MS degree in engineering, computer science or other pertinent discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience
  • Familiarity with some of the following but not limited to programming languages: PHP, Java, Java script, C++, R, Python, HTML, CSS
  • Experienced data management skills utilizing SQL. Preferred knowledge of schema design and optimization for large data sets
  • Experience with web applications and tools
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed, and a multitasker
  • Highly self/solution driven who can work independently or with a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team builder who drives to plan and timelines
  • Teacher who can foster and develop junior team members to full potential
