JOBSUMMARY

This position manages the general ledger and closeprocess, preparation and consolidation of internal Retail division financialstatements, and general accounting functions.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the general ledger and monthly close process for the Retail, ensuring financial records are complete and accurate according to La-Z-Boy standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsible for submission of financial operating results to Corporate Accounting via the corporate consolidation tool

  • Prepares, reviews, and distributes financial reports including data on operating results and variance analysis 

  • Assists with creating weekly updates, monthly report outs and quarterly business review presentations

  • Manages the monthly forecast process and annual budget process for the Retail division.  Responsible for submission of forecasts and annual budget to Corporate Accounting via the corporate consolidation tool

  • Manages the financial reporting and internal control aspects of Retail acquisitions as needed.  This includes set up of initial accounting procedures, reporting, and management of other components as required to transition the business into our Retail segment

  • Maintains appropriate internal controls and documentation including SOX and other compliance measures for generalledger and financial reporting 

  • Coordinates with internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews, SOX audit and year-end audit

  • Reviews journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff accountants, including ensuring adequate support and documentation of review

  • Partners with management to ensure understanding offinancial goals and performance against those goals byhelping to identify and manage risks and opportunities

  • Oversees general ledger maintenance and new store set-up.  Including, but not limited to, chart of account set up, maintenance and reporting

SCOPE& IMPACT:  Thisposition supports the Retail operating unit (FY17sales of $443 million).  This position manages theRetail AccountingStaff - consisting of a Senior Accountant and staff of Market Accountantssupporting the Retail market areas.  Thisposition will manage the general ledger and close process, preparation andconsolidation of Retail division internal financial statements and generalaccounting functions. 

MINIMIUM REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 6-8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent

  • 3-5 years of supervisory/leadership experience

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office: Power Point, Excel, Word and Access

  • Possess strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Oracle Enterprise One experience

  • Understanding of GAAP accounting principles

  • Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act

  • Up to 10% travel

PREFEREDREQUIREMENTS:  

  • Master’s degree
  • CPA or CMA

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Approximately seven (7) direct reports.
