The manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily operations of a large Radiation Oncology Department with more than 100 employees.
To act as a liaison for the Operations Administrator and the Department Chair to coordinate quality patient care in a professional, efficient and cost effective manner among all department allied health staff.
To assist in coordinating and supervising the medical secretaries, schedulers, patient service reps, physicists, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, registered nurses and fabricators in performing their job related responsibilities within the department.
To assist the physicians in the department with their individual needs to practice radiation oncology.
To coordinate and facilitate the special needs of radiation oncology with the Operations Administrator and the rest of the Mayo practice and support departments.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development of the life span.
The ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patients age specific needs is required. Assures that age appropriate care is delivered for population served.
Bachelors Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Graduation and Certification from an ARRT approved program in Radiation Therapy preferred. Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years Radiation Therapy experience. Must have thorough knowledge of the radiation therapy process and prior supervisory experience in a radiation therapy department
Must have strong human relation skills and be able to relate to a variety of levels of personnel in the work environment. Must be familiar with all personnel functions in the work environment. Must be familiar with the various department procedures and equipment problems, able to fill in for any areas as needed (Primarily treatment and simulation). Must be able to make decisions independently to assure smooth patient and operational flow throughout the department. Must adhere to and implement Mayo Clinic policies and procedures. Must keep up to date on new technology, procedures and equipment to ensure a viable radiation oncology department. Must facilitate radiation and work place safety for all allied health staff and patients. Minimum three years supervisory experience preferred.
