Position Purpose: The Manager of Provider Relations/Contracting is responsible for the development, recruitment, contracting, and/or servicing of provider network activities. In addition, this individual is responsible for coordinating the Plan's interaction with providers to install a recognition and perception amongst providers that the Plan is the premier provider servicing managed care organization in its region. Ensures that the provider network is in place to service the needs of members which may include contract negotiations.
Ensures staff is trained on and following existing processes so that the provider directory information is accurate, current and accessible when needed by internal and external contacts.
Works with regional staff to identify areas of need throughout the service area and appropriately recruit providers to meet those needs.
Supervises and directs all assigned provider servicing activities, including but not limited to, network expansion, servicing, retention, credentialing, and interaction with providers.
Develops approach to improve and enhance the image of the company with providers.
Maintains integrity and stability of provider network.
Assures the success and appropriateness of the provider education process by working closely with the appropriate internal business areas.
Manages the daily activity and workload of the assigned staff.
Maintains a service oriented and collaborative atmosphere within the department for both internal and external customers.
Maintains compliance with department standard.
Assists with special projects as assigned.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, BusinessAdministration, related field or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of provider recruitment, contracting, contractanalysis, or provider relations experience. Experience with network developmentprocesses, contract language, principles of negotiation, credentialing and callcenter operations.
- Previous experience as a lead in a functional area,managing cross functional teams on large scale projects or supervisoryexperience including hiring, training, assigning work and managing theperformance of staff.
