The Manager, Product Research Engineering, is responsible for a talented team of mechanical and biomechanical engineers in the execution of our research and development focusing on New Products. The manager will define the objectives and milestones to achieve the project goal, determine the timeline to accomplish these goals, provide technical leadership to the team members in the execution of the projects and deliver the project on time.


  • Participates in defining the team roadmap and the plan toward product release
  • Demonstrates strong technical leadership and participates in all aspects of the product research and development cycle
  • Be responsible for study design, project management, statistical data analysis, and data interpretation
  • Leverage Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM) of mechanical systems for product development
  • Analyzes and investigates product research engineering tasks and prepare design specifications
  • Interacts with software engineers, material engineers, and project managers to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications
  • Work with your manager and other cross-functional teams to identify possible improvements to product performance and to create product and test plans
  • Defines procedures to evaluate product performance and conduct bench top testing; The testing may cover efficacy, reliability, verification, and validation
  • Documents test protocols in accordance with FDA regulations
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and ability to master complex systems with sound mechanical principles
  • Designs product prototypes with biomechanical test models; Simulate real world conditions and measure outputs using sensors, etc.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation and growth of the group
  • Manages engineers in the delivery of all committed projects on-time, on-scope, and adherence to corporate standards and quality
  • Evaluates team and individual performance and makes compensation recommendations
  • Motivates, mentors, coaches, and guides individual team members for their professional growth
  • Communicates with professionals in the field at all levels and transition information into product improvement
  • Understands span of control to escalate or delegate issues to appropriate levels

Required Experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering related field, and/or equivalent years of experience
  • Master of Science or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in product research and development
  • 3+ years with hands-on experience in structural FEA/FEM with simulation software, such as Abaqus, Ansys, Comsol, etc.
  • 3+ years e in managing a team of engineers/scientists
