Job Summary:
The Manager, Product Design - Core Experiences is a coach and player role responsible for leading and mentoring designers in our core user experiences as well as being involved in the end-to-end product design cycle. You will identify user needs in collaboration with product managers, clinicians, and patients, to create user flows and refining polished designs with our engineering team. Your work will span from member experiences to provider applications across our core product suite. We’re looking for an experienced leader to help execute against the planned roadmap as well as mentor other team members toward the future with a curious, thoughtful, and visionary approach.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Craft thoughtful hypotheses and design solutions for some of our biggest problems using research, prototyping, user testing, data, and best in class design practices.
- Partner with product, engineering, marketing, and other stakeholders to co-create and deliver on the product strategy and vision.
- Scale our design system and style guide for our suite of apps (Web, iOS, and Android).
- Work through and understand complex regulations and edge cases while always advocating for the best user experience.
- Mentor other designers by setting best examples and providing oversight and feedback to others’ work to ensure quality, consistency, and usability.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Deep understanding of design principles, UX patterns, user research, visual and interaction design.
- Expert understanding of desktop, mobile web, native iOS and Android platforms -- and have a point of view about when it’s best to follow platform-specific conventions.
- Ability to collaboratively go from whiteboard, to sketch, to prototype, and implementation.
- Ability to conduct and apply customer research, including design thinking and rapid iterations.
- You have shipped products before and are able to show the impact of your work.
- Advocate for user-centric design processes, systems thinking, inclusive and accessible design.
Education and Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience solving complex user problems and a portfolio to go with it, with at least 1 of those years in a managerial or team lead role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in User Experience Design, Human Computer Interaction, Visual or Interaction Design, or related discipline.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States as no sponsorship is available for this position.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain seating in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about.
- No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., picking up and computer / laptops) may be required.
- Good manual dexterity required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, laptop, and mobile devices).
