Manager of Performance Consulting

The BD Medication Management Solutions (MMS) business is a $2.4B global provider of Medication Management technology serving Acute Care Hospitals, Non-Acute Care, and Retail Pharmacies. We are focused on making the medication use process simpler, safer and smarter. The Manager of Performance Consulting is based in San Diego and reports to the Director, Education Services. The Manager, Performance Consulting will be responsible for developing and managing learning and development programs to support the MMS business and execute the Education Strategy for Customers and Global Customer Service (GCS) employees. The Manager will collaborate with other GCS Education Managers, GCS Leadership, Marketing, and R&D teams to ensure training strategy alignment and consistency with other training solutions. He/She will be responsible for developing product expertise and assure appropriate curriculum development for all training programs that support the overall mission and strategy of GCS. The Manager will oversee Customer-facing and Professional Services training initiatives with a focus on associate and customer continuous education and competency development.

Key Responsibilities:

Needs Assessment:

  • Work with Marketing, R&D, and GCS Leadership to ensure business and training strategy alignment.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to research needs, facilitate communication, gather requirements and define roadmaps
  • Capture business needs through data collection and develop training proposals to accomplished agreed-upon learning outcomes
  • Partner with subject matter experts, field teams, and Customers to identify learning and performance needs to recommend solutions spanning initial training, just in time performance support and advanced skills development

Training Program Development

  • Work closely with GCS Education Services Managers and Learning & Performance Consultants to support the development of educational materials and performance support solutions.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of Medical Systems products and stay informed about upcoming releases.
  • Assess clinical and workflow impact of new product releases and guide the development of relevant education materials.
  • Guide Learning Consultants maintaining a highly collaborative environment to ensure the delivery of timely and quality results
  • Ensure training materials and processes meet all policies, regulatory and compliance standards
  • Liaise with multiple teams and departments to drive collaboration in the learning roadmap

Training Delivery

  • Facilitate customer and employee clinical and product training in person or using web-conferencing technologies.
  • Oversee training schedules, tools, environments, and facilities standards to ensure quality in training delivery

Training Management

  • Manage primarily Dispensing Platform related training programs and initiatives
  • Manage a team of Learning Consultants providing associate and customer education
  • Provide program and project management related to the strategic, logistic, and tactical aspects of education programs.
  • Create and manage communications, Sharepoint portals, dashboards, etc.

Customer Success

  • Maintain communication with internal and external customers to ensure customer satisfaction and continuous learning program improvement.
  • Act as a liaison with GCS employees supporting customer training activities to provide and receive feedback on the learning strategy execution.
  • Evaluate program success and measure learning strategy impact on the organization and drive continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Master's degree in Education, Adult Learning, Communications, Nursing or related field required. Master's degree in Education Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Interactive Media, or Learning Systems preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred, e.g. Nursing, Pharmacy, HIT
  • 2-3 years people management experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience with developing training programs, instructional materials, documentation, manuals, and online tools.
  • Industry experience with Medical Devices, HIT, product implementation and support in a global environment highly desired.
  • Project management experience and effective organizational skills.
  • Confident and results-driven; consultative skills, strong people and process/project management capability.
  • Ability to develop and deliver learning to a wide range of audiences and cultures.
  • Ability to independently develop complex L&D interventions and training solutions.
  • Knowledge of training methodologies, adult learning requirements, needs assessment and evaluation.
  • Outstanding communicator; an individual who possesses superior written/verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present his/her views in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Attention to detail while multi-tasking several complex deliverables across multiple groups, cultures and time zones.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard authoring tools preferred but not required (Captivate, Articulate, SharePoint, LMS systems etc.).
