Position Description

The Manager of Rental position is responsible for leading a $25 million rental unit to overall profitability and growth of the rental product line. The MOR will be responsible for leading and developing approximately 30-50 employees. This position reports directly to the Director of Rental. This position will directly manage all Rental personnel including; Rental Managers, Rental Account Managers, Branch Rental Manager, Rental Counter Supervisors, Management Trainees, Rental Sales Representatives and Sr. Rental Sales Representatives. Each DOR will have approximately 6-8 Rental Managers reporting directly to them. The MOR will have a proven track record in the following areas; Successfully Managing People, Leading a Team, Sales and Marketing, Sales Management and Execution, Achieving Financial Goals, Operations and Fleet Management, Customer Retention and Development and Communication This position owns the entire rental product line for their assigned business unit and is the bench strength for the future potential for the Director of Rental.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, 8 (eight) years of related experience can be substituted for the Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 6 (six) years experience in rental or a minimum of 8 (eight) years of experience in a variety of progressive
  • Ryder or industry management assignments is required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • MBA preferred
  • Candidate must have advance knowledge of SAM and RIDE 
  • Significant knowledge of field and rental operations, sales and marketing 
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop others and build successful teams
  • Highly developed ability to influence throughout the chain of command
  • Candidate must have an ability to build and influence functional relationships
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Ryder accounting and pricing policies and measures a plus

Responsibilities

  • Specifically the Manager of Rental will be held accountable for the following: Marketing Driving rental utilization through successful strategic market penetration and sound marketing strategies
  • Directly overseeing all Rental Manager, RAM, BRM, Rental Counter Supervisor, RSR and MT marketing activities
  • Overseeing the successful implementation of business units marketing plans including: consumer, local, regional and national programs and coordinating all the marketing activities of Rams as well as all rental
  • Leading all marketing promotions such as direct mail, inbound and outbound telemarketing, an outside sales effort, weekly blitz activities and maintains constant communication with the Field Marketing Coordinators
  • Ensuring inbound and outbound telemarketing standards are being met at the companies required levels
  • Providing leadership, oversight, direction and compliance around sales activities such as blitz's, customer appreciation days, etc Market share and Penetration
  • Providing strategic direction to rental staff on reacting to market changes with a sense of urgency in order to maintain and grow the market Ensuring appropriate staffing levels
  • Overseeing and ensuring compliance relative to the anticipation of market and customer needs by either moving equipment in or out of locations to meet demands and recognize and react quickly to market opportunities
  • Ability to forecast market potential and demand and optimize and react appropriately with your fleet and sales force Sales Execution Complete ownership on Establishing and enforcing authority guidelines/ limits for pricing
  • Maintaining competitive awareness and market pricing and remaining competitively priced Leading the effort of being proactive and recognizing and reacting quickly to market supply and demand
  • Responsible for sales protocols
  • Ensuring phone quality and standards are being met Direct Sales Management Directly responsible for RAM quota obtainment
  • Ensuring Rental Managers are actively and effectively managing RAMs
  • Ensuring collaboration with leasesales force through effective relationships with functional counterparts Financial
  • Responsible for overall profitability of the rental product line within their rental unit
  • Directly responsible for maintaining compliance with company, local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies
  • Ability to forecast monthly, quarterly and annual results accurately and timely
  • Responsible for analyzing and interpreting performance through multiple financialreports and metrics Leadership
  • Responsible for generating future bench strength for the company
  • Responsible for the overall development and guidance of employees to meet revenue and margin goals
  • Understanding the importance of responsibility, accountability and commitment
  • Ability to teach employees to be resourceful, effectively manage and quickly accomplish goals
  • Ability to drive company wide initiatives throughout their rental unit Operations and Fleet Mgmt Driving consistency across locations by ensuring proper branding of the Ryder label (i.e., proper uniforms, office appearance, fleet condition, point of sale marketing materials, hours of operations etc., )
  • Ability to implement and execute action plans through financial performance analysis
  • Ensuring operational efficiencies across all locations
  • Ensuring that Ryder's safety policies are being followed and enforced Customer Driving profitable revenue growth by maintaining and growing customer relationships Responsible for overall satisfaction for all internal and external customers
  • Overseeing customer concerns, issues, disputes in order to maintain the ongoing relationship
  • Expected to develop and maintain relationships with several key customers within their rental unit
  • Communication Building constructive and effective relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Communicating effectively across all functions Maintaining composure when addressing stressful situations
  • Clearly articulating Ryder's product and service offerings
  • Directly responsible for ensuring effective communication between all functional leaders
