Manager of Logistics
Our client is a leader in the packaging industry and has been in business 40 years. Based on Long Island, they work with leading companies worldwide offering creative packaging and logistics solutions.
They are currently seeking a Manager of Logistics who is responsible for providing leadership, development and guidance on all logistical issues. You will be responsible for developing cross-functional collaborative partnerships with other groups in Operations as well as the Sales and Finance Teams. Additionally, you will support the execution and vision of the Leadership Team, to identify, develop, and execute projects to transform the business and mature our business processes. The Manager will analyze warehouse, freight, and transportation activities in order to devise new strategies and tactics that enhance business processes and reduce costs. The Manager will successfully lead a team to ensure efficient and responsive customer service and compliance with SOPs.
The Manager of Logistics reports to Director of Finance and will have responsibility for the following activities:
? Overall functional responsibilities for warehouse and 3PL management, inventory reconciliation, cost downs, over the road trucking (TL & LTL), and procurement responsibilities.
? Oversee warehouse and freight analysis and the assessment of existing processes to identify areas of cost containment and process improvement; set goals and KPIs associated with costs of transportation, costs of warehouse, and create the infrastructure to make these objectives achievable.
? Develop and execute warehouse and freight strategies to support cost reduction.
? Utilize system knowledge to develop and implement productivity improvements.
? Work cross-functionally to align service requirements, customer requirements, and Warehouse and 3PL capabilities to ensure the program balances cost and service.
? Provide consistent and timely coaching and feedback to enhance the development of our team.
? Work collaboratively with management to support the strategic direction and objectives of the Company.
? Develop and implement consistent continuous improvement efforts leading to greater operational efficiencies.
? Enhance and/or develop new department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to improve workflow
? Participate in hiring, training, coordinating and supervising staff, providing close support and developing a strong teamwork environment.
? Provide continuous staff development opportunities to ensure staff possesses sufficient training and required skills to effectively and efficiently perform their assigned tasks.
? Oversee departmental review process; provide direct input for employee performance reviews; make promotion recommendations (supported with implementation plan, including training).
? Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience.
? Project management experience, preferably in an operations role.
? Management & supervisory experience.
? Critical thinking and structured problem solving skills.
? Leadership, team development, and experience in skills training.
? Microsoft Office Suite( Excel, Access, Word, etc.). Knowledge of SharePoint a plus.
? Relationship management (internal and external) ? at all organizational levels.
? Project and time management

? Business/technical writing skills
$80K - $90K plus bonus and excellent benefits
