About the Role:

Ferguson Enterprises, our parent company, is seeking an experienced Manager of eCommerce Search Strategy to join our growing and collaborative E-Business team. You'll be a key player in managing not only a small team of individual contributors but also the structure, display and quality of website search and navigation functions while building a strategy that will increase online sales and key site conversions. You will execute on-site customer experience improvements across the enterprise while being responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all search initiatives that support profitable and recurring eCommerce traffic. In this highly collaborative role you will partner on cross-functional initiatives with product management, engineering, and category management teams among many others as you create a shared vision and be the champion who gets all stakeholders on board to deliver results. You will drive innovation and have a passion toward continuous improvements to Ferguson's online presence.



Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Jr. level search architects and search analysts
  • Design roadmaps around search and meet deliverables, define and implement typeahead search
  • Serve as the expert in the search function and work collaboratively with developers, merchandising, data teams, and product owners to implement search and navigation functionality
  • Resolve top search problems and determine and execute strategies that will reduce null search results, reduce exit rates, and increase conversion rates
  • Perform customer behavior analysis, update search interfaces, and employ methodology for making search tuning changes to create a rich environment for the customer
  • Establish success criteria and evaluate current success to establish a benchmark
  • Use 3rd party tools to analyze and optimize customer search experience on multiple sites
  • Work with analytic team, usability team and IT to develop consistent testing on search strategies
  • Set strategy for proper content layout for best search results
  • Work with merchandisers to develop landing page strategies around heavily visited sections or search terms
  • Use research and analysis to set proper relevancy rankings, create redirects, thesaurus entries, and keywords for better search results
  • Develop and maintain reports to measure effectiveness of search strategy, and to communicate results to senior management team
  • Successfully manage timelines and budgets
  • Perform regular competitive analysis
  • Actively seek feedback from customers and Ferguson associates regarding online search and navigation
  • Understand internal and external customer data needs and expectations for online search & navigation (to include professional contractors, end consumers, associates, etc.)

What you bring to the table:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Marketing, Information Technology, or related field preferred
  • 7 or more years of progressive experience in site search, online navigation, search filters, product sorting rules and overall site presentation based on analytics
  • 5 or more years of Management experience
  • eCommerce Experience required
  • Search engine implementation and optimization experiencerequired
  • Proficiency in search technologies - Endeca is required. Familiarity with Oracle Commerce, Oracle ATG, or Experience Manager beneficial.
  • Strong familiarity with user experience design, SEO, and search analytics - Adobe Analytics preferred.
  • Skills in metrics, experiment design, and/or quantitative analysis to clarify the user’s experience
  • Proven success working with technical and non-technical members of a team
  • Ability to analyze data issues, produce working solutions, and work with and analyze multiple data sets
  • Proven interpersonal skills (managing meetings, scheduling activities, monitoring progress, reporting to management, presentation skills)
  • Good understanding of content management system and web applications
  • Must possess a "think outside the box" mentality to seek new and innovations solutions and practices
  • Poise and maturity to interact with executives
  • Excellent customer service, leadership, attention to detail, listening skills, and negotiation skills
