Oversee and investigate complaints of university policy violations, including complaints alleging civil rights violations of protected categories or other equity complaints, and compliance investigations. Tasks include:
•Interviewing the complainant, the accused and witnesses
•Collaborating with Public Safety, Human Resources, and other relevant offices to ensure among other things safety, appropriate interim measures if any, and preservation of material information
•Collecting information, and documentation regarding the complaint
•Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, or other requirements
•Identifying and integrating best practices for investigations into knowledge base and practice
Document, summarize and prepare reports of investigation in an impartial, unbiased and efficient manner to allow appropriate offices to evaluate cases and make determinations regarding violation of policies and corrective actions, if any.
Case Management, including but not limited to:
•Organizing and maintaining case files, and managing case requirements
•Monitoring applicable timelines for all cases investigated by OCE
•Creating, maintaining, and continuously improving policies, flow charts, templates and other documents for investigations
•Communicating with all of the stakeholders in the investigation process, including parties, witnesses, and collaborating offices to assist them in understanding the investigation process, accessing resources.
Support the Office of Compliance and Ethics in providing ongoing training for all RIT faculty and staff regarding reporting options, investigation processes and procedures, and other relevant topics.
Collaborate and coordinate with the other university offices and partners to identify and address any systemic problems, identify interim measures or any other relevant matter regarding an OCE complaint.
Prepare and maintain statistical, demographic, and subject matter data related to OCE complaints and trends. This includes being responsible for keeping thorough, accurate, and comprehensive records related to all assigned OCE reports, complaints, and investigations.
Remain abreast of policies, best practices and underlying laws related to investigations conducted by OCE.
Comply with all mandatory training and other university policies and procedures.
