Munson Healthcare is in the early stages of implementation of a new IT software strategy to achieve improved integration for our growing healthcare system and the patients we serve. We will be undergoing major Cerner implementations at an aggressive pace through the next several years to achieve our strategic goals. The Manager of Clinical Applications oversees a team of Analysts who implement and support, primarily, inpatient/hospital-based Cerner solutions. Ideal candidates will have both human resource leadership experience as well as significant experience leading various components of complex EHR implementations, ideally with Cerner solution and Cerner implementation methodology experience. It’s a very exciting time to join our growing Munson Healthcare IT team and to be a major contributor to our expanding healthcare system and its Information Technology needs! ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Responsible for the support, maintenance, and implementation of clinical applications, primarily but not limited to Cerner applications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, Healthcare or related field required with 8 years experience in Information Systems. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, twelve years of progressively more responsible experience in information systems required. MBA/MPH degree and advanced continuing education in information systems trends and methodology is preferred. Experience with installing healthcare applications in a multi site and multi platform environment preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must posses strong problem solving and conflict resolution abilities and experience in diplomacy. Must be able to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with all customers, both internal and external to IS. High degree of confidentiality required. Demonstrated customer focus/orientation is required. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a large staff of diverse employees. Experience developing policies and procedures is preferred. Demonstrated experience with the departments and applications for which the manager has application responsibility is preferred. ORGANIZATION This is a management level position with a reporting relationship to a Director of Information Systems. Must maintain a professional working relationship with the other members of the IS management and staff.   10. Provides direction to staff and management on policies, procedures, technology and developments within the manager's Applications Department.
  11. Working with the Information Security Officer, provides security, confidentiality and compliance to HIPAA, the Joint Commission, etc.
  12. Responsible for contingency planning for critical applications. This includes maintenance support documentation and other documentation critical to Disaster Recover or High Availability.
  13. Evaluates and maintains working relationships with applicable vendors.
  14. Assists with the IT strategic planning effort.
  15. Responsible for the design of the manager's department. This includes setting direction for application, integration, capital investment, etc. Also included is working with the other Applications Departments (Clinical or Non-Clinical Applications) to ensure processes are standardized and necessary integration is achieved.
  16. Reviews industry trends as it relates to the manager's areas of responsibility. This may include knowledge of clinical integration, supply chain management, billing, coding, etc
  17. Ensures on-call responsibilities are covered for the appropriate applications. On-call coverage may be required 7x24X365.
  18. Ensures the installation of software releases in order to stay within manufacturer guidelines and support issues.
  19. Assists with licensing of any software specific to the department. This may include tracking and understanding how software is licensed and staying compliant within the license agreements.
  20. Ensures disaster recovery documentation is up-to-date and routine tests are performed.
  21. Provides assistance to is the IS division in troubleshooting and solving system problems. This includes second and third level support for all calls received related to the department.
  22. Ensures the appropriate educational opportunities are available to the manager's staff within the education budgets within IS.
  23. May be required to work closely with appropriate vendor for support to resolve problems or in system troubleshooting.
  24. Ensures that staff adhere to Implementation Methodology (and other methodologies that are developed) including project definitions, communication plans, education plans, testing plans, etc.
  25. Provides support to all affiliates including hospitals, physician offices, other entities, etc. This includes understanding that each hospital has strategic objectives that may be competing and/or somewhat conflicting.
  26. Maintains competency level by attending education sessions, vendor sessions, appropriate research, etc.
  27. Assists with any prioritization issues between conflicting projects.
  28. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
