The Nonprofit and Education Advisory Services Manager is responsible for maintaining client relationships, providing client support in the areas of accounting, contracts, and pricing, and overseeing assigned associates and senior associates. The Manager will have the opportunity to lead exciting projects and gain hands on experience providing consulting services to industry clients advising in areas such as contracts and grants compliance, finance and accounting, risk mitigation, internal audit, operational excellence and program outcome success. The Manager will be responsible for maintaining client relationships, providing client support and overseeing assigned associates and senior associates.


- Assumes responsibility for all projects phases and works directly with clients to accomplish project objectives

- Addresses and resolves compliance issues with client team

- Interprets donor requirements and industry standards including US government regulations in order to make recommendations to clients

- Reviews and assists the client with development of policies and procedures related to accounting, contracts pricing and other areas of operational need

- Completes client compliance reviews, internal controls and risk assessments and internal audit services

- Provides direct and indirect cost rate structure design and analysis (such as preparation of a comprehensive forward pricing model)

- Advises clients on donor inquires and prepares them for donor audits and assessments

- Assesses client operational efficiences and program success

- Evaluates client organizational structures, culture, and strategies

- Supports the development of cllent strategic planning and initiatives

- Assists client initiatives to secure new business, including but not limited to participating in Business Development meetings, developing relationships with clients and networking activities

- Prepares client proposals for not for profit and education opportunities

- Participates in bidding process for government contracts through preparing and negotiating equitable adjustment and termination claims as well as providing strategic pricing assistance, analysis of RFPs and cost proposal preparation



Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Serves as a member of the consulting group's management team

- Supervises, develops, and trains associates and senior associates

- Reviews and evaluates work prepared by associates and senior associates

- Trains associates and senior associates on how to use current software tools and BDO consulting practices and methodologies

- Schedules and supervises workload of associates and senior associates

- Provides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates

- Acts as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associates

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field required

- Advanced degree preferred


Experience:

- 5 or more years of relevant experience including financial, budget and program management covering operational aspects ideally for not for profit and/or educational organizations

- Prior experience with US federal procurement required

- Prior experience researching and drafting proposals required


License/Certifications:

- CPA is a plus


Software:

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, specifically preparing work plans and report and proposal writing

- Strong analytical and research skills

- Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details

- Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment

- Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously

- Ability to work with minimal supervision

- Demonstrated command of OMB Uniform Guidance

- Knowledge of donor grant and contract requirements including FAR, CAS, and GSA schedules

- Ability to follow and apply specific rules and regulations

- Experience with Enterprise Risk Management, COSO, and other operational frameworks a plus

- US citizenship required
