SCOPE OF POSITION
The Manager, Communications and Marketing is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing initiatives for Ballad Health corporate marketing working closely with the Ballad Health Corporate Director of Marketing. The Manager provides marketing and communications consultation and support to department managers and staff regarding their particular areas of service. This position coordinates community outreach projects that support the Mission, Vision and Values of Ballad Health. The Manager is responsible for the marketing plans for Marsh Regional Blood Center, Ballad Health Homecare and Hospice, Ballad Health Medical Equipment, The Wellness Center, Mountain States Pharmacy, Ballad Health Urgent Care and various corporate departments. The Manager will manage the development of in-house creative and collateral to support activities of Marsh Regional Blood Center, Ballad Health Homecare and Hospice, Ballad Health Medical Equipment, The Wellness Center, Mountain States Pharmacy, Ballad Health Urgent Care and various corporate departments. He/She will develop marketing plans, budgets and metrics and necessary creative, collateral, media placement. The Manager must demonstrate fiscal responsibility through consolidation of marketing efforts, also responsible for staying within budget guidelines. He/She will support Ballad Health Corporate marketing and communications initiatives, as appropriate.
The Manager is responsible for ensuring that Ballad Health policies are consistently observed, and for the development and implementation of appropriate departmental policies and procedures. The Manager is accountable for compliance with all pertinent JCAHO Standards, and with local, state and federal regulations. As an integral part of the Ballad Health management team, the Manager is required to participate in the organization’s Performance Improvement programs and to cooperate with interdepartmental reengineering projects to improve quality of service and reduce cost. The Manager is accountable for practicing fiscal responsibility by developing realistic annual operating and capital budgets, conserving resources, and monitoring expenditures to ensure they remain within budgeted parameters. The Manager is accountable for maintaining harmonious interactions between departmental personnel and their customers, including patients, family members, visitors, physicians, clergy, other system team members, and the general public. The incumbent must ensure that departmental team members know and understand the Ballad Health Mission and Vision, and uphold its values. The Manager is expected to set an example for all team members of commitment and loyalty to Ballad Health by openly supporting and participating in organizational projects and events. The Manager is accountable for maintaining technical expertise and for development of leadership skills through ongoing education. The Manager must be self-motivated and serve as a strong team leader and coach.
The Manager is expected to comply with the Ballad Health management philosophy which includes being accountable to the customer, fiscally responsible, and focused on improving performance outcomes. An important expectation of the Manager is to support the successful operation of the Strategic Service Units and Strategic Service Departments. The Manager will dedicate operational resources to developing the organization’s intellectual capital, empowering team members to assume responsibility and accountability within the scope of their expertise, and acting as facilitator to the self-directed work groups that develop within the department.
The Manager, Communications and Marketing reports directly to the Corporate Director of Marketing; indirectly to the Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Business Development.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
At a minimum, the Manager will possess a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree is preferred. The position requires a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsibleexperience in healthcare or related
