Position Description:

This challenging position requires a strong understanding of the full cycle of repairs, starting with DCI and quotes, and concluding with delivery and acceptance. The Manufacturing Manager ensures that dates are in control, and determines if we need to outsource processes and/or work overtime to meet delivery dates. The Manufacturing Manager keeps an eye on the availability of manufactured parts, purchased parts, and outside operations to align with Flowserve’s shop labor. We’re looking for skilled communicator who will keep information updated and flowing through effective face-to-face contact, emails, phone calls, and posted metrics.

  • This position reports to the QRC General Manager and has 18 Headcount.

  • This position is based in the Edmonton QRC with responsibilities for the Fort McMurray satellite QRC and as such will require travel to Fort McMurray

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the DCI/assembly/test and one-off custom engineered seals.

  • Displays expert product knowledge of all seal types. Capable of designing and implementing assembly/disassembly fixtures and aids, able to identifying errors in designs.

  • Ensures workers are adequately trained in their tasks.

  • In collaboration with Engineering, develop quotes for repair and service

  • High level of collaboration and interaction with outside sales force.

  • Work with Purchasing and Sales Engineers to insure that parts and materials are available as needed during the production process

  • Promote and enforce a positive Safety Culture for all employees.

  • Develop production schedules and maintain the inventory of customer buffer/safety stock.

  • Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts and assemblies through departments according to production and promised delivery dates.

  • Reviews production schedules and related information to determine that each multiple milestones are met.

  • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to train and oversee employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques.

  • Required to direct workers (including contractworkers); assigning/rearranging different tasks to ensure ship dates are met.

  • Responsible for making recommendations/decisions regarding hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, terminating, and salary adjustments for associates in the identified scope of responsibility.

  • Responsible for the cradle-to-grave project management of every job that comes into the QRC

Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, preferably in Engineering or Business from an accredited university.

  • An equivalent combination of years of experience and industry knowledge is acceptable

  • Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of combined experience in a management and/or manufacturing environment

  • Strong working knowledge of engineering principles as well as materials management with an emphasis on shop floor scheduling.

  • Able to work extended hours and weekends as required.

  • Familiarity with Lean Mfg. with experience in continuous improvement process (CIP)

  • Demonstrated skills in managing and developing personnel.

  • Strong leadership skills, leading people in a functional organization in a matrix environment.

  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability in a manufacturing environment and be able to delegate effectively in a team environment and to mentor and develop others.

  • Must have a successful track record of leadership, and calmly resolving conflict in a way that promotes teamwork and positive relationships

  • Strong cost center management experience as part of their respective operational responsibilities and have a solid track record in providing positive results.

  • Strong business acumen and business management capability; has a keen understanding of the respective Flowserve business model and strategies

  • Aligns individual performance goals and measures

  • Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office

  • Experience working with customers in the oil and gas, power, and chemical industries

  • Able to interpret industry standards, technical drawings, and manufacturing procedures.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and paperwork

  • Clear and positive verbal and written communication skills so as to work successfully face-to-face, on the phone, and by email

  • Good organizational skills, able to establish priorities and complete a high volume of work to specific deadlines

  • Proven record of safety performance in a manufacturing plant
