SVB currently has a Manager, Loan Accounting position available. This employee will also assist with enhancing our understanding of the upstream operational processes that have impacts on accounting, including understanding the end to end loan and credit card SOX controls. Additionally, the person will assist with understanding the downstream external reporting requirements relating to loans and credit cards and build efficient processes to prepare and send that information to our external reporting teams. This employee will own processes and tasks that require significant judgement, including analytical procedures aimed at identifying errors in a timely manner.
Additional responsibilities, but limited to:
Own and manage the monthly close activities including account reconciliation, journal entry review, and analytical review of financial information.
Prepare and maintain schedules and desk procedures for accounting areas pertaining to loans and credit cards.
Assist with documentation of new accounting policies and documentation of significant, non-routine transactions or new product implementations.
Continually enhance and improve procedures to ensure accurate, timely accumulation of financial information.
Address requests that arise for compliance and audit functions (SOX, internal Audit, annual external audit, etc.)
Partner with operations teams to ensure key systems are in compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements and to ensure key information is captured, stored and available to meet reporting needs.
Ensure proper financial management controls and governance are embedded across the business. This will include understanding of loan and fee booking procedures in addition to loan accounting.
Prepare support for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for loan and credit card products, including reporting packages for management teams and meetings, portions of SEC filings, regulatory filings and various ad hoc requests
Review the work performed by other team members and communicate the results to the Controller. Ensure all work performed by the team is documented in line with company policies and is completed timely.
Performs other specific duties and responsibilities and special projects as required or assigned by the Controller. This includes resolving issues as they arise across systems or operational processes.
This individual with have the authority to review and approve:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Advanced degree in Accounting and up to 10 years of progressive experience including some management experience.
Big Four accounting experience is a plus.
Experience working with or managing offshore teams is a plus.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
