The IT Systems Engineering Manager is accountable for the definition and execution of all aspects of on-premise and cloud infrastructure, architectural design and standardization, infrastructure design and engineering, transition to operations, and continual improvement. This role will manage a team of Systems Engineers and DBA's, engage in team development, contractand vendor relationships, and establish/deliver on project deadlines. The IT Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing and guiding their team to reach their full potential. Ensure the highest level of infrastructure uptime and performance to the rest of the Wesco organization in alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.


  • Manage IT Engineering for the global infrastructure environment, including but not limited to, strategy, planning, implementation, and ongoing support of business operations in alignment with budgetary compliance and driving efficiencies
  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including: System architecture, Datacenters, Cloud, Windows, Linux, SharePoint, Exchange, SCCM, O365, Storage, System-i and Databases
  • Design and implement short and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements
  • Assess and deliver infrastructure products/services in alignment with evolving business needs and objectives
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcing providers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services
  • Accountable for meeting systems infrastructure or operational Service Level Agreements established by IT executive staff and via contract with vendors
  • Provide regular assessments of the Wesco infrastructure
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with Wesco Aircraft executives, decision-makers, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities
  • Promote and motivate project resources, ensuring that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality
  • Directs, motivates, develops and oversees the performance of the engineering team
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration
  • Plan, hold and conduct regular and consistent informational and operations meetings with IT engineering personnel, driving and monitoring the status and overall performance
  • Prepare timely performance evaluations, conduct reviews, administer salary adjustments, promotions and/or disciplinary actions; facilitate additional training or mentoring as required
  • Ensure employee personnel changes and timekeeping records are audited and submitted to Payroll, as scheduled
  • Maintain knowledge of supervisory responsibilities and enforce and uphold current Federal and State labor laws, Wesco employment policies, safety, quality and security policies, as applicable
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, continuously seeking process improvement opportunities
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
  • Travel to Wesco locations (10%-20% as needed)



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Information Technology, or another STEM discipline required
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience in server systems, systems architecture, or other infrastructure technologies in a complex, global environment
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical staff in a system engineering team in a complex, global environment
  • Experience managing multiple operating systems and large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience in managing business critical and customer facing systems
  • Strong understanding of public and private cloud architectures; experience with public cloud providers
  • Proven experience with SLA management and IT Service Management
  • Able to provide architectural technical input and general direction
  • Ensure quality of technical deliverables (designs, documentation, guidelines, etc.)
  • Experience in configuration management tools
  • Experience with Linux, Windows Server, and intermediate networking concepts
  • Understanding of containerization/orchestration frameworks
  • Experience with development practices such as Agile, CI/CD, and software tools
  • Strong competency working with integrated data systems, Microsoft O365, and intermediate to advanced Word and Excel as required
  • Proven project management skills, including utilization of project management software
  • Ability to work independently or through leading a team of professionals from critical-thinking workshops to the completion of mission-critical projects
  • Ability to effectively lead, train, supervise and motivate others to successful completion of goals
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently and ethically with both internal and external customers, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong follow-through and perseverance to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
