Job Description Summary:

The Manager – IT Business Services is responsible for leading the design and enhancement of business system solutions for an enterprise (or in a designated major area of business e.g. Utility Group, Corporate Center, Transmission Group). The incumbent works directly or through subordinates with customers, colleagues, and other key stakeholders to identify client's information and computing requirements and seek out opportunities to recommend new business solutions that will enable clients to achieve critical business strategies, while at the same time educating the work force in the strategic use of technology in the business. The position requires a high degree of customer service orientation, solid persuasiveness / sales ability, and excellent presentation and communications skills. One progression level exists for this position – it is equivalent to and Manager – IT Product Center – Level 3 positions. This position is a manager level position that may have several supervisors or multiple team leads. The main challenge of the IT Business Services process is achieving the optimum integration level of business systems, data and integration with communications technology and evolving technology. Responsibilities and, business / technical skills and knowledge, competencies and experience are the factors used to determine a person's placement in the progression.

  • Participate in the formulation of the company's business system architecture plans, assessing cost and feasibility of client requests and ensuring the plan supports both the operations and strategic needs of their clients.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with client's management and key client decision makers.
  • Actively participate in the business planning process of client management.
  • Manage portfolio of client projects.
  • Establish an environment to ensure project costs and schedules are properly estimated and controlled.
  • On a continuous basis use critical leadership techniques to effectively communicate with employees to establish and maintain a high level of motivation and sense of direction.
  • Collaborate with Clients, vendors, industry consultants, and senior management to define acceptable service levels.
  • Integrate activities with business unit and other IT departments to ensure the successful implementation and support of project efforts.
  • Establish an environment to ensure project costs and schedules are properly estimated and controlled.
  • On a continuous basis use critical leadership techniques to effectively communicate with employees to establish and maintain a high level of motivation and sense of direction.

Technical Knowledge/Skills: Mastery level human resource management skills, including; the ability to lead through Subordinate Team leads or supervisors multi-disciplined teams to achieve assigned project schedules, costs and goals, managing the personal career development of team members, and conducting ongoing career coaching, and conducting and leading the employee Performance Management process.

Mastery level knowledge of the IT organization's long range strategies, business practices, as well as a working knowledge of the company's corporate strategies, direction, and product and services. Ability to contribute to the development of business strategies and direction for the IT organization.

Education /Experiences: Baccalaureate degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or related equivalent discipline. Minimum of fifteen years' experience in either information technology or a client business supported area are required.
