Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) of LeasePlan USA, the Manager of Internal Communications will develop and execute on an internal communications strategy to keep employees engaged and informed onimportant information with regard to LeasePlan USA. The Manager will oversee the planning, development, and coordination of internal employee communications to promote programs and significant events that support talent and leadership initiatives. He or she also supports cultural and organizational change initiatives to build employee awareness, understanding, acceptance, and commitment to the LeasePlan USA vision, values, and business strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Establishes and ensure execution of an internal communications strategy in conjunction with the ELT that promotes, improves and protects our internal brand and reputation
  • Champions the company's philanthropic, community, diversity and inclusion programs
  • Plans, edits and writes content for a variety of internal communications mediums such as the intranet, monthly newsletter, town halls, blogs or other communication media. Will also be responsible for the layout and design of the content
  • Works closely with LeasePlan USA's Corporate Marketing team as well as all other department leaders to stay abreast of new product developments and initiatives to keep employees informed
  • Teams up with key partners in the organization to ensure that the internal communications plans are aligned withnecessary company policies
  • Coordinates with LeasePlan Corporation to ensure messaging and content are in keeping with brand standards, communication guidelines, and confidentiality requirements
  • Works closely the Employee Engagement and LeasePlan Cares Committees to stay up to date on upcoming events and leverage any communication opportunities associated with these events
  • Ensures organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
  • Partners with aligned leaders to ensure they are equipped with the proper tools and skills to communicate the strategy effectively to target audience to accomplish overall communications objectives. May work with aligned executives to build their executive brand through internal communications strategies
  • Implements metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication plan delivery within their aligned functions/business units. Use metrics to inform strategic plans on how to improve, enhance or innovate future communications. Continuously improve and find opportunities to measure communication effectiveness
  • Applies organizational change management theory and methodologies in the development of plans to improve the success of communications
  • Storyboards or translate ideas to the creative team of art directors and designers
  • Drafts messages, presentations and/or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
  • Ensures internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization
  • Ensures internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages

OTHER DUTIES

  • Responds to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
  • Handles the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation
  • Advises senior executives of developments throughout the organization, either face to face or through regular written communication

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, public speaking, and listening skills
  • Ability to tailor written and spoken messages appropriately to the target audience
  • Familiar with the use of internet/intranet systems such as SharePoint and/or any other employee portals
  • Proficiency with graphic design packages such as Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Experience using various social media tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter, or blogs
  • Ability to interview and gather information from all levels of staff
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities, meetings, or exceeding deadlines
  • Able manage projects both internally with stakeholders and with vendors, suppliers, and distributors of collateral material

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications or related field is required
  • At least five years of experience in an internal communications role is required
