Description

As Manager of Internal Communications, works to ensure all members of the Emory community are kept informed, engaged, and aligned with the university's strategy initiatives, priorities, and campus-wide projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Develops, leads, and executes communications strategy for issues that affect the university community at large.
  • Communicates to the broader Emory community regarding initiatives, policies, and decisions that transcend institutional boundaries to ensure community awareness and understanding.
  • Helps to cultivate internal audiences as ambassadors to build and strengthen Emory's overall brand position and influence.
  • Leads and manages an internal communications strategy that promotes awareness and alignment to the Emory community on enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, projects, and priorities.
  • Partners with Communications and Marketing team to create effective change communications plans to drive awareness among internal audiences including faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Develops working relationships with colleagues in departments throughout the university in order to promote and implement internal communication strategies and programs that engage, inspire, and align internal audiences with Emory's brand, vision, priorities, and key initiatives.
  • Researches, develops, writes, edits, proofreads, and disseminates a full range of internal communications materials, with the goal of streamlining communications sent to the Emory community.
  • Directs email communications and social media content as relevant methods of communication and information distribution.
  • Drafts messages, scripts, and slide decks for senior executives for presentation to internal audiences in written or spoken form.
  • Ensures internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization.
  • Coordinates with the Office of the President to ensure presidential directives are shared by appropriate secondary and tertiary offices and leaders.
  • Aligns internal communication messages with external communications.
  • Ensures relevant policies are communicated with the appropriate vehicles and by the appropriate leadership area.
  • Identifies opportunities for enhanced leadership communication and subsequent engagement with key community stakeholders.
  • Supports environmental branding and merchandising efforts to amplify the Emory brand to internal stakeholders.
  • Partners with division and unit communicators to enhance communication opportunities.
  • Maintains appropriate feedback loops and metrics to ensure message resonation.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public affairs, or related field and five years of experience in marketing/communications account management or related work OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent writing, research, and communications skills.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
