General Responsibilities


The role of the Mgr, Global IT Hardware Asset Management is to oversee the daily operations and lifecycle of hardware assets within the global organization. This includes overseeing all processes, procedures, vendors, and tools used to ensure compliance with vendor contracts and manage useful device lifecycles. The individual will assist in forming IT lifecycles and procurement strategies for technology across the organization. The Mgr, Global IT Hardware Asset Management will also monitor procedures for tracking company assets and oversee quality control throughout their lifecycles.

Mandatory Requirements


  • Accountable for managing the entire asset life cycle for information technology computing devices across the global organization.
  • Supports procurement forecasting and directs distribution/redistribution of technology assets.
  • Oversees formal and informal audit of computer assets enterprise-wide and works to enforce and educate associates on hardware and software compliancy.
  • Maintains hardware asset management policies and procedures.
  • Governs and executes procedures for tracking the purchase, usage, lifecycle, and decommissioning of all IT hardware assets.
  • Explore opportunities for maximizing or exploiting unused or partially used IT assets to achieve full efficiency and ROI from company resources.
  • Develop strategies and maintain external relationships to implement plans for disposal of selling obsolete assets.
  • Utilize and support Global IT Asset Mgmt Process, Tool, and Managed Services.
  • Partner with colleagues from Hertz International regions (EU and APAC) as well as Donlen Corporation to ensure that alignment with global processes and tool usage.
  • Monitor licenses, warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts in alignment with company’s compliance and lifecycle policies.
  • Perform financial analysis for acquisition cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure inventory control processes are followed.
  • Support lease vs. buy models.
  • Plan for major hardware acquisitions and upgrades.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in company spending and inventory control to make recommendations for the future, and to identify areas for possible savings and/or asset optimization.
  • Ensuring that all IT asset costs are correctly identified and maintained in the system.
  • Ensure that all hardware information is accurate and auditable.
  • Perform inventories and usage monitoring of all IT assets and record all findings, changes, physical location, etc.
  • Research industry best practices and compare against organization’s practices to establish benchmarks for managing IT assets.
  • Monitor data feeds to and from the ITAM toolset.
  • Follow procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring ITAM tool operations

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience within IT/IS organizations, or directly serving IT/IS in a Procurement or Finance role
  • ITIL and Certification in Software Asset Management desired
  • Training in ISO 9000, Lean or Six Sigma is desired

Knowledge & Experience

  • +5 years direct work experience in IT Asset Mgmt and/or IT hardware procurement capacity.
  • Strong familiarity and technical competence with asset management software and/or inventory-tracking systems, such as Flexera, Snow, Service Now, Altiris.
  • Solid working knowledge of current IT technologies, including Office 365, Windows, and computing Hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of software license agreements from Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, VMware, etc.
  • Strong understanding of ITAM best practices, to include ITIL, IAITAM, and ISO 19770 processes
  • General knowledge of accounting, finance, marketing, and logistics.
  • Ability to develop and analyze hardware asset data for reporting to management and technical staff for compliance and budgetary purposes as well as project planning
  • Solid understanding of procurement processes and their relationship to hardware asset management.
  • Excellent verbal communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills across multiple locations
  • Solid working knowledge of current IT technologies, including Office 365, Windows, and computing Hardware.
  • Direct experience managing enterprise processes
  • Enterprise CMDB experiencedesired
  • Experience with regulatory compliance (SOX, HIPAA) is desired
