The Genome Informatics Manager oversees the development and operations of the Bioinformatics and LIMS infrastructure. The Genome Informatics Manager leads the Bioinformatics and Applications teams and provides seamless service and support to the CAP/CLIA certified Clinical Genomics Lab as well as other Clinical Research endeavors at the Rady Children's Institute.
The Genome Informatics Manager will have demonstrated expertise in clinical bioinformatics with a strong sense of process engineering. The Genome Informatics Manager will ensure compliance to CAP/CLIA and other regulatory standards. The Genome Informatics Manager will feel comfortable working within a highly dynamic, cross-functional work environment and manage competing priorities. The Genome Informatics Manager will have strong leadership and management skills to support growth and development of team members and to provide appropriate service levels to internal and external customers. The Genome Informatics Manager will have demonstrated skills with project management, using industry standard project management software tool and techniques.
The Genome Informatics Manager manages the Bioinformatics and Applications teams, and reports to the Director of Informatics & IT. Candidates with strong people skills, process engineering mindset, analytical skills, attention to detail, time management and organization skills will be most successful.
Master's Degree - M.S or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or related field and five years directly related experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained

Demonstrated experience of formal project management techniques and tools is essential
Experience working in a clinical diagnostic NGS lab or in a highly collaborative environment such as a Bioinformatics Core facility is highly desirable
Experience configuring or managing a NGS LIMS, or at least 2 years of using a NGS LIMS
Attention to detail and process oriented
Programming experience - Python, Java, Ruby or Perl
Good understanding of Illumina whole genome and whole exome sequencing technologies and Workflows
Experience with systems integration and automation
Excellent and proactive written and spoken communication skills - both public and inter-personal
Doctorate Degree (non MD)
6 years of experience
Project management using MS Project, JIRA, Asana, Trello, etc.
Basic understanding of human molecular genetics
Experience working in a CAP/CLIA lab
