What you'll do:

  • Supervise all aspects of Fixed Asset Accounting and Reporting in compliance withestablished practices and generally accepted accounting principles as follows:
    • Review fixed assets purchase requests (initial asset creation review)
    • Review and place assets under construction in service (CIP/AUC assets review)
    • Review fixed assets system imports related to mergers & acquisitions
    • Review fixed assets dispositions in the system
    • Review fixed asset sub-ledger vs. general ledger reconciliations and prepare fixed assets roll-forward
    • Perform various fixed assets analyses (depreciation reasonableness, fluctuation and budget analyses)
    • Provide accounting support and guidance for physical inventory count
    • Provide audit (internal/external) support (i.e. pull relevant fixed assets supportand address various inquiries)
    • Manage fixed asset ledger for tax purposes, including quarterly tax rollforwards, reconciliation of tax and book records, generation of key tax fixed asset reportsand management of relevant tax issues such as bonus deprecation
    • Lead various clean-up efforts
    • Review and, as necessary, revise fixed assets and capitalization policies
    • Prepare various financial reporting schedules impacting fixed assets
  • Supervise two fixed asset staff
  • Interact with cross-functional business partners and field accounting teams on fixed asset accounting and reporting matters
  • Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies that can be applied across multiple business groups
  • Identify areas of process improvement and lead implementation of process changes
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Skills we're seeking:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP (CPA preferred)
  • 6-8 years of relevant business experience (fixed asset and related tax experience strongly preferred)
  • Action oriented; thrives in a dynamic environment; takes initiative to identify and resolve issues; ability to prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Precise, deadline-driven team member with strong organizational and projectmanagement skills
  • High level of proficiency in Excel to perform spreadsheet and financial analysis
  • JD Edwards experience a plus
