Department Overview

The Wealth Finance department is accountable for the major financial functions of TD Bank Group's wealth management business, providing: business planning, financial analysis, measurement, valuation, and risk assessment services. The Wealth Finance team works closely with the business and centralized financial expertise (e.g., Chief Accountant's Group, Enterprise Decision Support, Finance Shared Services, etc.) to provide quality expertise and advice consistent with overall TD Bank Group's financial strategy and objectives.The Wealth Finance team provides Finance advisory support to the Wealth businesses including Direct Investing, Private Wealth Management, Financial Planning, TD Asset Management, WM Operations and Shared Services



Job Description

  • The role has a number of accountabilities which include, but not limited to the following:Manage and oversee the Wealth Forecast / Plan/ Outlook process;
  • Delivering a high quality Plan / Forecast to the CFO and CEO, including the Plan Presentation.
  • Prepare monthly Outlooks of the Wealth business and communicate to the CFO and CEO.
  • Oversee and sign-off on the month-end closing process, including the preparation of the monthly management financial reporting package;
  • Delivering a high quality Plan / Forecast to the CFO and CEO, including the Plan Presentation.
  • Conduct insightful, driver-based variance analysis to facilitate management's review of actual financial results month-over-month, year-over-year, and relative to plan and forecasts;
  • Provide insightful interpretation of key business drivers underlying the business results, including sensitivity analysis and highlight areas of risk and opportunity to financial performance and make appropriate recommendations where required.
  • Prepare monthly Outlooks of the Wealth business and communicate to the CFO and CEO.
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as required on areas that impact multiple Wealth businesses. The candidate should be able to identify key risks & opportunities at the consolidated business level.
  • Provide insightful interpretation of key business drivers underlying the business results, including sensitivity analysis, and highlight areas of risk and opportunity to financial performance at the consolidated business level and make appropriate recommendations where required.
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as required on areas that impact multiple Wealth businesses.
  • Provide support to the Wealth Finance Management team, preparing presentation decks and material for use at Senior Leadership meetings and conferences. Ensure leadership team has access to timely and accurate financial, market and business trend analysis and data necessary to facilitate proactive decision-making.
  • Act as subject matter expert on Wealth Management when dealing with other finance departments and other internal/external partners. This includes ownership of Capital Reporting.
  • Effective interaction with the various stakeholders to ensure Plan is accurate and to minimize duplication.
  • Ensuring well communicated and achievable timelines; and ensure Enterprise submission deadlines are met.
  • Be agile and problem solve in response to deviations to timelines and changing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business / finance partners and other stakeholders; Effective interaction with the various stakeholders to ensure accuracy and to minimize duplication.



Requirements

  • Professional accounting , and/or business qualification ( MBA, CFA, CPA)
  • People management skills and experience
  • Hyperion 11 SmartView would be an asset
  • Wealth business knowledge will be an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; strong business acumen.
  • Naturally inquisitive with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong conceptual and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid experience and proven track record working closely with Senior Management with conceptual and critical thinking.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities within a highly demanding environment
  • A self-starter who works well in a team environment.
  • Proven interpersonal and relationship management skills, and be detail-oriented with the ability to follow up on items or determine appropriate steps for timely resolution.
