Purpose of the role
This position is accountable for creating and managing strategic distribution relationships within assigned market area, prospecting, and signing new clients while meeting or exceeding assigned sales targets.                   For optimum success in this role, driving engagement, cultivating innovation, having business insight and self-awareness and ability to collaborate, will be essential. You will be accountable for

  • Develop and lead the strategy for the sales group which consists of 9 to 12 Field Sales Consultants.
  • Leads and manages a sales team to high performance standards. Drives a disciplined approach to market opportunity, sales performance, reporting and measurement.
  • Grows Moneris revenue and market share. 
  • Manages and executes sales and revenue strategy. 
  • Develops long-term strategies and near-term tactics for building existing business relationships and uncovering new business.
  • Maintains results by coaching employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • As a leader of the organization, oversee strategies to attract, motivate and retain a highly qualified sales team. 
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and partnerships internally and externally to support the achievement of business objectives.
  • Overlook to on-going boarding process of new representatives, motivate and develop high-performing Field Sales Consultants 
  • Attend customer calls with staff to coach and train on improving sales acumen. 
  • Manage the target accounts process and assist the representatives in closing business. 
  • Build business plans that will exceed territory, regional and division objectives.
  • Set and monitor realistic performance goals through a formal process. 
  • Implement and administer processes to inspire direct reports to overachieve set objectives. 
  • Uphold and develop the organization’s vision, mission, values and direction - communicate strategic aims clearly and concisely.
  • Motivate and empower staff – stimulate direct reports to formulate innovative and creative ideas for improving sales and day to day responsibilities. 
  • Manage departmental budget and review cost against revenue generation. 
  • Use the best technology available to improve efficiency and reduce deficiencies. 
  • Understand the needs, business objectives, problems and buying processes of customers and prospects.
  • Consult with prospective clients in a consultative sales approach, resulting in achievement of individual goals and targets driven from organizational goals and targets
  • Identifies prospective clients that minimize company risk and meet Moneris’ credit standards.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms and conditions.
  • Assist and participate in developing and executing marketing plans and strategies.
  • Proactively manage own professional development, to enhance professional competencies; Accountable for continuous learning including acquiring better selling skills and the identification of potential training opportunities to improve sales and post-sales effectiveness.
  • Sell all services and products offered by Moneris to all clients.
  • Continued development of key relationships.
  • Embedding themselves within the culture of their assigned region.
  • Providing input to Marketing and Product Development on key products and/or initiatives required to close gaps in current product offering and/or in current client segment.
  • Forge relationships and work closely with Relationship Management, Client Services, Sales Effectiveness and Sales Support teams to drive execution for optimal customer acquisition, speed-to-market, ease of integration, and service levels.  Provide necessary information for orderly transition/conversion of newly signed clients to exceed the client’s needs and help clients to meet their own corporate goals.
  • Timely production and delivery of pipeline and other related sales management information reports as assigned.
  • Accountable for being well informed about current industry trends and being able to talk intelligently about the industry as a whole and also the card services industries. Keeping abreast of competition, competitive issues and products
  • Evaluating daily output and coaching Field Sales Consultants to assist with their development.
  • Contributing feedback to the employee performance assessments.
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on sales, sales techniques and product acting as a contact point and referral for Field Sales Consultants.
  • Meeting production goals and working collaboratively with other functional areas to ensure merchants reach activation (funnel management).

 Your experience includes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing or a related field.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered a substitution.
  • 5-7 years of strategic sales/ account management/ business development experience with a track record of strong sales results.
  • 2-3 years of leadership/ people management experience.
  • Previous experience in the payment card industry or point of sale (POS) solutions considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in the payment industry considered an asset.
  • A proven track record of success in an aggressive target driven sales environment.
  • Understanding of strategic selling techniques with strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience in various sales management methodologies, processes and reporting requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows/ MS Office Applications.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, and verbal).
  • Excellent communication skills and networking abilities with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong business acumen with analytical ability to assess the business and drive the organization forward.
  • Possess the ability to constructively confront people and issues.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking to business issues & drive results. 
  • Possess high level of initiative. Able to be a team player.
