Tasks and Responsibilities

• Oversees the company's Field Operations Contractor Management and Operations and Maintenance Support area, including compliance with Washington Gas Operations and Maintenance (O&M) procedures, approves invoicing for work performed by contractors and company personnel and supervises staff that performs field inspections. Assesses contractor firm performance and ensures appropriate level of oversight.

• Manages the work of Supervisors of Field Operations and Local 96 personnel, including hiring, evaluating, training, performance management and goal setting, compensating, motivating, and coaching to promote an environment of teamwork that ensures the achievement of Division priorities and corporate goals.

• Manages the relationship of multiple contractor firms, as well as Local 96 personnel, performing leak repair, leak investigation, service replacement and other distribution maintenance work to ensure Company goals and objectives are being met.

• Ensures that all contractor-performed activities are carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with Company standards.

• Ensures that all WG performed activities are carried out safely and efficiently and in accordance with Company standards.

• Provides research, Company record review and corporate designee testimony to the Office of General Counsel for gas-related incidents.

• Provides input for the design, development and implementation of maintenance and operations procedures and practices performed by contractor workforces and WG personnel.

• Participates in the formulation of strategic direction and implementation of operating plans for specified initiatives.

• Represents the Company's interests before external audiences, which may include expert witness testimony and contractual negotiations.

• Develops and monitors O&M and Capital expenditures budget

• Serves as key contact for industrial and commercial technical inquiries.


Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor's Degree in an applied science field

• In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 additional years of directly-related experience may be substituted; or an Associate's degree and 6 additional years of directly-related experience

• 7+ Years of relevant work experience in the gas industry related to construction management, construction project management, or operation and maintenance of below ground natural gas distributioninfrastructurerequired

• 2+ Years of supervisory or team leadership experiencerequired


• Demonstrated working knowledge of contract administration, federal, state and local underground construction regulations, piping systems design, and installation of gas distribution systems preferred.

• Demonstrated general working knowledge of Company Codes and Standards preferred.

• Ability to successfully negotiate business agreements and to resolve disputes with business partners.

• Demonstrated ability to logically analyze and interpret data and to identify relevant issues in solving narrowly- defined business problems.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex messages verbally and in writing to diverse audiences at all organization levels and externally.

• Experience in managing construction activities through contractor resources preferred.

• Experience in and/or working knowledge of the energy and/or utilities industries preferred.

• Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, to share, retrieve, research and present business information.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, and to identify relevant issues in solving business problems.

• Demonstrated ability to logically analyze and solve broadly-defined business problems.

• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, subordinates and peers.

• Demonstrated ability to present ideas logically and concisely to diverse audiences at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
