Provides overall strategic engineering leadership: Validation Program, Capital planning and execution; New equipment design and development to support new product offerings; Process and equipment design for manufacturing locations; Scrap reduction program when needed.
Responsible for driving exceptional engineering response with respect to: Resolution of production equipment issues; Corrective and Preventative Action Items; Leads and/or assists in determination of product/process failure root causes potentially related to manufacturing processes.
Assists in proactive programs to raise standards in areas of: Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM); Control plans for equipment and facility failures; Emergency response planning; Safety and machine guarding.
Accountable for driving introduction of and skill development in: Use of DMAIC and DMADV processes for improvement projects and equipment design; Application of Lean and Six Sigma tools; Implementation of Statistical Process Control monitoring programs; Measurement and improvement in process capability and variation reduction.
Accountable for identifying best practices and industry standards for: Manufacturing Engineering; Equipment Design and Development; and assisting Maintenance Programs.
Manages Engineering department staff comprised of engineers and technicians.
Assists in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the engineering group.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and managing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or related fields.
Ten or more years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Design Engineering with at least five years direct experience in providing engineering support to production.
Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related fields.
Experience in facility design and layout and/or cellular manufacturing.
Experience managing equipment design and development as relates to high speed manufacturing processes, automation, fixtures, set-up reduction.
Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma and TPM desirable. Green or Black belt training or certification
Leading programs at both the local and global level.
Negotiation and strategic planning skills.
Knowledge of management activities including budgeting, project planning, procurement, and specification development.
Knowledge of cGMP's and FDA regulations as pertains to process engineering preferable
Strong leadership, development, interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, and ability in leading, developing and managing cross-functional teams
