Lead and manage the writing and editing team, and ensure the quality and consistency of all content produced from the marketing department. Create, proofread and edit marketing content and copy for both digital and print channels. Follow a variety of detailed processes to edit or proofread different types of content. Develop and implement corporate branding guidelines and standards, and incorporate them in all editing and proofreading. Accept and apply constructive feedback to adapt to the style and quality standards of the editing/proofreading team. Lead brand and content audits for the network materials to ensure they meet enterprise brand standards and inventory accordingly. Use workflow software tools to manage project work and progress, and perform quality assurance on all delivered content. Collaborate, strategize and work closely with communications and public relations, designers and digital staff to ensure content and messaging remains consistent, error-free, and stays on message with the correct tone throughout various advertising platforms to meet specified requirements. Identify, plan and prepare content for layout, publication or syndication using corporate templates and tools when applicable. Identify and escalate content issues related to standards and guidelines when necessary. Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, and be able to work independently or in a team environment, and under pressure while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Enforce Associated Press (AP) writing style while correcting copy errors and recommending changes. Lead and manage a team of copywriters and editors to develop and critique copy for all mediums. Must be deadline driven while producing compelling, well-written and editor-worthy content.
Advocates new methods for writing and editing processes, techniques and solutions. Develops organizational best practices for the management of marketing positioning and strategy. Creates initiatives that foster communication, directness and spirit of cooperation. Manages links among multiple projects and anticipates the impact of the project's outcome on all concerned. Expands networks of leaders across enterprises and boundaries to make positive collaborations for business. Creates a system to monitor the effectiveness of the organization's public relations campaigns and media. Leads discussions on existing media and publication policies; offers suggestions for policy improvement. Works to create a climate that values and rewards good oral and written communication. Enhances brand awareness by keeping messages focused and consistent with the business strategy. Designs marketing literature, speeches, press releases and other high-exposure documents. Monitors news content of competing publications and implements new writing techniques when necessary. Coaches teams of news writers and content contributors in developing high quality content. Plays a leading role in defining organization-specific writing approaches and practices.
Bachelors degree in marketing, English, journalism or a related field required.
Minimum ten years of experience in marketing production and a working knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style writing and editing, and expert knowledge of writing software such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required. Experience managing a team and a working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional and Design Suite preferred.
