  • The Database Administration Manager will join the existing team of experienced DBA’s who are responsible for the support of a number of databases, principally on DB2,Oracle and redshift

  • Lead the DBA team to identify and build out necessary long-term strategy for the team

  • The DBA Manager will perform the duties of a Lead level DBA, and be responsible for coordination all of the daily maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, trouble shooting, problem resolution, and user assistance required for database environment, on premises as well as off premises (AWS)

  • The DBA Manager will manage onsite DBA , coordinate and guide on-shore and off-shore DBA’s with daily maintenance tasks as well as provide guidance with all technical aspects of database administration, including installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, backup, restore and decommissioning

  • Work with application development team to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.

  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control processes for modifications to databases.
  • The DBA manager must have the ability to work in multiple types of databases; DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, Redshift, Aurora

  • The DBA manager will work with a cross-section of internal IT organizations, systems analysts and developers, outside consultants as well as internal management teams

  • Participate in regular database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis and predicting future database resource requirements.

  • Training, managing and mentoring junior and offshore DBA team members.
  • Prepares for database expansion by studying plans and requirements; advising senior technical management; coordinating design and programming.
  • Develop database documentation such as standard operating procedures and knowledge transfer documents, as well as provide clear instruction to DBA’s to provide such documentation

  • Experience with NoSQL databases i.e. HBase, MongoDB and Cassandra are a plus

  • Understanding of regulatory, legal and compliances issues for SOX and audit functions




Strategy & Planning

  • Maintains knowledge in the various Cloud\Virtual computing platforms, automation technologies

  • Maintains Cloud\Virtual environments – helping to implement the tools and technologies used in automating our environment.

  • Participates in ITSM management

  • Assures that activities align with business needs and objectives

  • Works with Architecture and Operations to maintain a stable, secure, and scalable environment.

Operational Management

  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.

  • Maintain defined metrics and standards for infrastructure component performance.

  • Technical knowledge in configuration management, testing and technical documentation.

  • Monitor partner performance, escalating when performance falls below an acceptable threshold.

  • Ensures change management processes are followed

  • Other duties as assigned


Abilities/Key Competencies/Skills


  • 10+ years’ experience as an DB2/Oracle and SQL Server Database Administrator at the senior level

  • Experienced in large database implementation and support

  • Experience performing 24x7 production supports for Oracle or SQL Server environments

  • Experience with AWS Databases

  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle load utilities

  • Capable of leading and supporting a team through multiple independent projects simultaneously

  • Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers

  • Guide DBA’s through proven diagnostic problem solving and solution development capabilities


Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • MS/BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years’ experience as an Oracle/DB2 database administrator
  • 5+ years prior database administration experience in DWH environment
  • 3+ years of cloud DBA experience. 
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of DBA best practices
  • Strong Database & Performance Tuning Knowledge
  • Experience in AWS managed databases such as DynamoDB and Redshift is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Well organized with good time management skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and client focus
  • Experience in Agile Project Management Methodology, preferably in playing Product Owner role
  • Strong efficiency and working experience with DB2, Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Administer databases through full application life cycle, development, testing, and production.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of database tuning: software configuration, memory usage, data access, data manipulation, SQL, and physical storage.
  • Must exhibit good time management skills, independent decision-making capability; focus on customer service
  • Hotel industry experience a plus



Bachelor degree with 3-5 yrs experience or 8+ yrs professional experience.
