  • Position Summary
    • Manages the Planning Department’s data resources and databases for internal planning uses and required external reporting. Leads analytical support including research, data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, presentation, report formulation and production. Supervises the department’s Planning Analysts and manages the quality and validation of the Planning Analyst staff’s outputs and deliverables. Develops information and data for environmental assessments and other major strategic planning and business development projects with the ability to discover trends. Interprets data based on industry knowledge, and converts data into information for management decision making. Collaborates with management and other clinicians and serves as a resource to achieving the organization’s goals.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Bachelor’s degreerequired; Master’s Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred. Must have a minimum of 5 to 7years of work experience in a similar role.
    • Management experiencepreferred, with previous experience as a healthcare analyst required.
    • Ability to work autonomously often with limited direction and supervision and experiencewith multidisciplinary project coordination and management.
    • Ability to work independently with physician and operations leaders at an advanced professional level and be articulate, prepared, and knowledgeable in those encounters.
    • Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnosis/procedure coding, and MS-DRG payment system required.
    • Significant experienceworking with large clinical and/or administrative databases supporting the development of environmental, competitive and other strategic studies, including the analysis of assumptions and the interpretation of data results.
    • Expert use of spreadsheet, graphics, mapping applications and database software with the ability to integrate elements. Ability to learn new software or other data tools independently, as needed.
    • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SAS (Statistical Analysis Software) or similar required, and some knowledge of SPSS (Statistical Package of Social Sciences) helpful, spreadsheet, relational database, graphics and word processing software is required. Skills with additional statistical software packages are desirable.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and high attention to detail with the demonstrated ability to produce high quality output that is complete, accurate and suitable for distribution to high level audiences.
    • Excellent audit and verification skills and the ability to recognize anomalies and know the appropriate steps to take to address.
    • Ability to clearly, concisely, and accurately communicate complex data in both written and oral form. Written analyses to include summary of data and strategic recommendations.
