  • Member of the Corporate Controller's leadership team, responsible for managing aspects of the monthly and annual accounting close processes, including analytical review of the monthly operating results, review of journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate accounting records are maintained
  • Develop, document and maintain strong internal controls over assigned accounting processes.
  • Research of relevant accounting standards, write position papers and ensure related transactions are accounted for appropriately
  • Support the annual external audit process, including coordinating with the internal teams to ensure workpapers for audit are prepared timely and accurately and interfacing directly with external audit team
  • Work with the other managers in the Corporate Controller team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information and consolidation of results into corporate financials
  • Closely partner with other Accounting and Finance groups to ensure proper accounting for transactions, analyze versus budget and other projects
  • Lead and develop members of the corporate accounting team with a focus on employee engagement
  • Maintain up-to-date policy and procedure documentation / ad hoc research
  • Lead special projects, including but not limited to acquisition activity, system conversions, and process improvements
  • Develop and implement improved and enhanced procedures and processes across the accounting organization
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure proper accounting treatment


  • Provide guidance and drive daily close workflow schedule and task prioritization
  • Review and approve journal entries to general ledger accounts
  • Monitor compliance with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and company procedures
  • Review and evaluate various balance sheet and income statement accounts to determine whether the accounts are correctly stated and initiate any changes needed in the general ledger
  • Understand and present explanations of actual and YTD results to prior period, prior year and budget; provide explanations as needed; support financial reporting with pertinent footnote disclosures
  • Support internal customers by serving as a key point of contact for questions related to certain corporate accounting matters
  • Search for new and improved ways of conducting financial processes; capitalize on system resources and capabilities; stay current on accounting pronouncements
  • Provide direction and coordinate team efforts related to project assignments; ensure follow through to completion
  • Support efforts with outside CPA firm to ensure annual audit and tax returns are handled in a timely manner


  • Accounting Experience in an industry with high transaction volumes, transportation/logistics industry experience a plus
  • Ability to interpret and implement GAAP standards related to corporate accounting, including income taxes, acquisitions, leases, complex debt and equity arrangements, and other pronouncements as they become applicable
  • Strong understanding of functional processes in Oracle or Comparable ERP System (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets)
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Tools and other applications: Ability to leverage Excel and other MS programs, including Word, Outlook, Skype, PowerPoint, etc. at intermediate to advanced level
  • Knowledge and Utilization of Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service or comparable reporting and analysist tool is a plus

  • Five plus years of progressive accounting/finance career experience, with at least two years in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment
  • Management experience/project team leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions and with external users of financial information
  • Two plus years of public accounting experience strongly preferred


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA is strongly preferred
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Maintain ongoing training relevant to new accounting pronouncements




Bachelor of Science or better in Accounting or related field.

Masters of Business Administration or better.
