As a direct report to the Director of Corporate Accounting, the Manager of Corporate Accounting is responsible for
leading a team of 2 to 4 accountants and Accounts Payable resource, both, permanent and temporary resources to process the accounting and reporting of complex accounting areas, daily Accounts Payable, monthly GL close processes for areas of responsibility, as well as ensuring SOX control compliance. Specific responsibilities of the Corporate Accounting Manager include, but are not limited to:
·Manage and review work of staff. Mentor, Champion. Complete quarterly and annual performance reviews. Drive department goals and objectives through execution of effective processes and communication with team and management.
·Manage, review, and provide technical accounting support for share-based compensation, earnings per share, foreign currency matters, global pension, post-retirement and deferred compensation plans, including the Rabbi Trust.
·Participate and support the monthly general ledger and financialreporting close processes.
·Communicate with other functional areas and site locations, responding to voice messages, email, and etc. in a timely and appropriate manner.
Review all staff member duties and work product, ensuring tasks are performed accurately, completely, and timely,
in accordance with company policy.
·Review and approve accounting tranactions and reconciliations prepared by the SSC on behalf of Corporate, including but not limited to cash and fixed assets.Train and assist with knowledge transfer as needed.
Manage and review accounting transactions prepared for sites globally, including the monthly mark-to-market journal entries and pension expense as well as monitoring the reconciliation to SAP Business
Planning & Consolidation ( BPC) , ensuring conformity to GAAP and Flowserve policies.
·Manage and review the preparation of the global cash, including restricted cash. Assist with securing Treasury review
and site explanation for restricted cash.
·Manage, review and approve monthly journal entries (including top-side journals, if any), recurring journal entries,
account reconciliations, supplemental data and other reporting including the maintenance of supporting documentation for all areas of responsibilities.
·Complete tasks and interact as required with the Controls (SOX), internal and external audit teams.
·Assist with the Quarterly Corporate Analytical Review as needed.
·Provide financialsupport and ad hoc analysis to departmental and senior management.
·Serve as the Corporate Accounting subject matter expert for the complex areas of accounting, along with team members, including areas such as share-based compensation, pension, foreign currency matters, debt, etc.
·Monitor, review and periodically self-test Corporate Accounting documented policies and procedures, including
spreadsheet controls, for SOX compliance and gaps. Follow-up, develop and remediate controls as needed.
·Lead and represent Corporate Accounting in finance and accounting systems, process and procedural change
initiatives focusing on the end user perspective to ensure successful implementation and avoid disruption to ongoing business operations
·Heavy interaction with teams including IT, GLSS,Treasury and functional end users supporting finance and accounting systems.Communicate and work across the organization as needed.
·Review and verify quarterly
Corporate Financial Controls checklist prior to Director signoff.
·Manage and assist with Financial Reporting, Tax, Legal and FP&A functions requests for financial data, for external reporting, budget, forecasts and IRS audits, for all areas of responsibility including accounts payable, pension and post-retirement, AOCI, equity, including EPS calculations, share data and stock-based compensation.
·Cross-train with peer managers and provide coverage as needed.
·Assist with special projects as assigned.
·Bachelors degree or international equivalent in Accountingrequired, MBA a plus
·Possess a strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX controls, including a high degree of technical accounting knowledge and willingness to learn new technical accounting subjects/guidance.
·Strong financial background with 5 - 7 years of progressive, relevant experience, including supervisor and/or manager experience
·Minimum 5 to 7 years professional accounting experience, some Big 4 public accounting preferred
·Must be process and goal driven, customer oriented, results oriented, self-motivated
·Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
·Knowledge of SAP and Oracle or other ERP software preferred
·Previous experienceworking with SAP S4 GL and Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC)
·Experience with publicly-traded, global company plus
·Excellent PC skills including Windows, Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint
·Public Accountingexperience a plus
·Comfortable interfacing with operational and financial leadership
