Squamish Nation is seeking a Manager, Community Outreach Services to provide strategic and operational leadership within Ayás Menmen Child and Family Support Services, part of Nexwnínlhewá7nem Ch'áwch'aw (People Services).
This leadership role oversees community-based mobile outreach and crisis response initiatives that deliver holistic, low-barrier supports directly within community settings. This is more than a management role-it is an opportunity to help shape Nation-led, trauma-informed, and culturally aligned responses that support individuals, children, youth, and families during times of wellness, vulnerability, and crisis.
What You'll Do- Provide leadership and direction for community outreach and mobile crisis response initiatives, including People Services on Wheels.
- Support the delivery of low-barrier, community-responsive services with strong referral pathways and continuity of care across People Services.
- Strengthen interdepartmental collaboration to support holistic, wraparound responses for individuals, children, youth, and families.
- Ensure programs reflect Squamish Nation teachings, cultural practices, strengths-based approaches, and clinical best practices.
- Lead coordinated community response efforts during periods of increased need, providing structure, clarity, and culturally grounded leadership.
- Lead, supervise, and support a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, outreach workers, peer workers, youth workers, counsellors, and other helping professionals.
- Provide clinical supervision and practice leadership that is ethical, trauma-informed, and culturally relevant.
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, training plans, and performance evaluations grounded in trauma-informed care.
- Foster a team environment that prioritizes staff wellness, reflective practice, learning, and collaboration.
- Oversee daily operations of the Mobile Outreach Initiative, including scheduling, coordination, delegation, and workflow development.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate operational procedures, service standards, and data-tracking systems.
- Monitor, manage, and forecast budgets; prepare reports for leadership and funders.
- Complete monthly reports outlining service delivery, outcomes, trends, and community impact.
- Seek and support funding opportunities aligned with mobile outreach and community wellness initiatives.
- Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of the People Services Community Crisis Response Plan.
- Coordinate Nation-wide wellness and crisis responses, including triaging requests and activating comprehensive response plans when required.
- Serve as a key contact for communication and decision-making related to mental health, addictions, and cultural healing services.
- Host regular training, team meetings, debriefs, and reviews related to crisis response practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community members, internal departments, and external partners (e.g., FNHA, VCH).
- Work collaboratively with child, youth, family, and education programs to support continuity of care.
- Lead community education and prevention initiatives related to harm reduction, mental health, and wellness.
- Support the development of presentations, outreach materials, and engagement events in collaboration with the Communications team.
What We're Looking For- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree may be considered with significant leadership experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in health, wellness, or community social services.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience; experience providing clinical supervision is an asset.
- Clinical registration (e.g., RSW, RCC) or ability to obtain is an asset.
- Experience in Indigenous health, trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, addictions, mobile outreach, or crisis response settings.
- Experience working in First Nations or Indigenous community environments is an asset.
- Deep cultural competence and respect for Squamish Nation protocols, teachings, and values.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building capabilities.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally grounded practice.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex priorities.
- High empathy, resilience, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
- Valid First Aid Level 1 and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid BC Driver's License (Class 4 or 5; Class 7N may be considered).
- Access to a reliable vehicle is preferred.
- Ability to travel to Squamish Valley on a regular basis as needed.
Salary: $100,033 - $150,050
