Overview

McGuireWoods has a need for a Communications and Media Manager to join the Marketing and Business Development team. The Communications Manager will work with various offices and practices of McGuireWoods to strategically enhance the exposure of the firm and its attorneys through various media outlets.

This role can be located in one of the following markets: Chicago, New York, Dallas, Charlotte, Houston, DC, Richmond, San Francisco, LA, Atlanta

Responsibilities

  • Develops and grows relationships with firm's lawyers and staff and members of the mainstream, trade and legal media across markets nationwide and internationally where the firm operates
  • Prepares and/or edits press releases and high-quality, tailored article pitches and talking points, often on tight deadlines
  • Applies well-versed knowledge of current events to identify trends, story ideas and proactive campaigns that strategically benefit the firm
  • Handles all aspects of Social Media
  • Researches and generates media lists, monitors news clips, generates media reports and analyzes metrics to gauge PR/media results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Communications or related field; J.D. a plus
  • At least six years of reporting, law firm and/or professional services PR experience
  • Strong, Fast and versatile writer and editor
  • Ideal candidate will have existing relationships with reporters and editors nationwide in key legal, trade and mainstream media
  • Strong social media skills required
